The facelift of Toyota Camry has been registered for intellectual property in term of design in Vietnam, promising the upcoming launch.

After about 5 months since its launch in the international market, the upgraded Toyota Camry facelift model has been registered for industrial design ownership in Vietnam. Therefore, Vietnamese customers can expect the new Camry to be launched this year.

The 8th generation Toyota Camry is launched on the Vietnamese market from April 2019. Up to now, this design has existed for nearly 2 years. The upgraded facelift has only a few minor changes in appearance, mainly in the front and rear bumper.

It can be seen that the new Camry’s grille is larger than before, stretching to both sides. According to the copyrighted image, this version uses a new 18-inch rim, 2 contrasting tones. The lighting cluster remains unchanged.

More notably, according to the copyright information, the new Toyota Camry in Vietnam also has a sporty version. In the North American market, this version is called XSE, distinguished from the version with a similar appearance to the model sold in Vietnam, called XLE. So, Camry 2021 sold in the domestic market for the first time has 2 designs as models sold in other markets.

The XSE version has a more aggressive appearance with a large grille and a rugged shape. The rear part of the taillights has a black strip that is similar to the supply air grille. The rear bumper has additional dual exhaust pipes on both sides. This version can be painted black on the roof.

A floating screen above the center is the new characteristic of Camry 2021 interior. The remaining details have not changed much. Version sold in Vietnam has a sunroof. Other amenities in the car remains unchanged comparing to the old version, including a clock incorporating a 7-inch screen, JBL audio, electronic park brake, 3-zone automatic climate control, and electric car curtain.

In the US, the Camry 2021 has Safety Sense 2.5+ package, which adds nighttime pedestrian detection feature to assist with automatic braking and emergency steering control one while stabilizing autonomous vehicle under dynamic driving situations at handling limits such as avoiding objects and pedestrians on the street. It is not clear whether Camry in Vietnam has these technologies or not. The model with the safest technology package from Toyota in the country is the Corolla Cross with Safety Sense 2.0 package.

Currently, Camry in Vietnam has 2 options of 2-liter and 2.5-liter engines, with the capacity of 165 horsepower and 181 horsepower, combined with 6-speed automatic transmission. If it resembles the Corolla Cross, the Camry will enter the hybrid market with a petrol-electric hybrid version. In some markets in Southeast Asia, Camry has a hybrid version for a long time.

With some changes, especially the sporty version, the Toyota Camry will become the considerable competitor with Mazda6 – a model with a more youthful design. In 2020, Camry is the best-selling car in the segment and Mazda6 ranks second. The Kia Optima and Honda Accord models have significantly lower sales.
