With sales of nearly 11,000 vehicles, Hyundai Grand i10 becomes the best-selling model in the A-Segment in 2022.

The A-class vehicle market has been narrowed by the absence of familiar models like VinFast Fadil, Honda Brio, and Toyota Wigo. Accordingly, currently in this segment, there is only the competition of two models: Hyundai Grand i10 and KIA Morning. Perhaps that makes the sales competition between compatriots fiercer.

Hyundai Grand i10 with the attraction from its models, brands, and abundant supply, it seems to overwhelm Kia Morning. Sales volume of Hyundai Grand i10 in December 2022 reached 1,184 units, increased by 63% compared to previous month. Accumulated from the beginning of the year to the end of December 2022, there were 10,752 units of Hyundai Grand i10 sold on the market, which made it become the best-selling model in this segment, with 91 units more than Fadil.

Meanwhile, sales volume of Kia Morning reached only 120 units, increased by 5 units compared to the previous month. Accumulated from the beginning of the year, 3,979 units of Morning have been sold and ranked third in this segment, behind VinFast Fadil.

In November, the A-grade model – Kia Morning selling price was increased by 26-40 million VND; the price of Kia New Morning also increased by 20-30 million VND. Compared to the listed prices, this is a high increase. Although it discourages customers from making purchases, this is also an opportunity for Hyundai Grand i10 to breakthrough in 2023.

Recently, according to some sources, the A-Grade Wigo model is likely to return to the Vietnamese market soon. If so, it will face fewer competitors than before its discontinuation. The earliest expected time will be around April 2023 with 2 versions: manual and automatic.

In Vietnam, Toyota Wigo used to be a model that competed quite well with Hyundai Grand i10 and KIA Morning in the group of small-sized low-cost cars. However, after the appearance of VinFast Fadil and the boom of the urban SUV segment, the market share of A-segment cars gradually lost its attractiveness and lagged behind.

Since Fadil was discontinued and Honda Brio and Toyota Wigo were no longer for sale, the A-grade segment is now just only a game of two for Hyundai Grand i10 and KIA Morning.

According to some sources, Toyota Wigo will be totally changed and significantly upgraded its interior/exterior equipment and features.

Therefore, there will be high expectation for the new Toyota Wigo to gain a solid foothold in the low-cost car segment, in the context where fewer and fewer competitors appear in the A-grade vehicles market.
