In October 2018, Honda’s booth at the Vietnam Motor Show 2018 (VMS 2018) created a great surprise for speed enthusiasts with their top and most expensive version of Civic, Type R.

In other Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia, or Thailand, Honda Civic Type R is always the hottest topic of discussion every time a new version is released, or simply changed or upgraded in the middle of the life cycle. 3 years and 2 months after the first Honda Civic Type R appeared in Vietnam under the temporary import and re-export status, a mysterious container at the port of Ho Chi Minh City was opened by a private import company. Lo and behold, Honda Civic Type R was officially present in Vietnam.

Unlike hundreds of other Honda Civic cars rolling in Vietnam with body kits ranging from regular to premium, this Honda Civic Type R racer is not only 100% genuine, but also a limited edition with only 600 units produced, launched in February 2020.

The selling price of the Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition has not been disclosed, but speculations were never less than 3.5 billion VND, which is nearly 4 times more expensive than the genuine Honda Civic 1.5 RS that is being distributed in Vietnam. Compared to Honda Civic 1.5 RS version, the price difference increases to 5x.

The first 4-door street racing car Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition in Vietnam was revealed to be imported from the US, marked the 438 out of the 600 produced in North America. In addition, this model is also produced with only 500 units for the European market. The highlight of the unique Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition is the Phoenix Gold paint color along with black painted accents in the grille, bumpers, hood, side brace, and some details at the rear. Tying the two colors is a prominent red border.

Civic Type R Limited Edition weighs lighter by 20.9 kg compared to the normal Honda Civic Type R. This results from many changes to the car’s details such as 20-inch BBS wheels that are 8 kg lighter; Michelin Cup 2 tires; 4-piston Brembo brake shackles. These are also the highlight of the limited-edition model.

The windshield wipers, infotainment system, luggage compartment cover, audio system and soundproof pads have all been removed to help reduce the weight of the car to a minimum. However, customers can ask the company to reinstall these details.

In terms of appearance, the Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition bears a makeover with a racing-style body kit, including a new front bumper, maximum expansion of the air cavity with integrated fog lights, new side braces, and many more. Into the cockpit, the first Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition to return to Vietnam welcomes the owner with an interior that is dressed in two colors: black and red. The sports seats have a dominant red tone. Several details inside the car are aluminum or carbon. Right at the center console is the serial number 438 with the history of the car from the US market.
