Ford Ranger dramatically outsells competitors

04 Jul 2022

Ford Ranger sales in May sold 22 times more than rival Mitsubishi Triton, which ranked second, and 98 times more than Mazda BT-50.

May 2022 marked a strong breakthrough in sales of Ford Ranger with 1,675 vehicles sold, 22 times more than Triton, 98 times more BT-50, and 111 times more D-Max. Ranger was partly successful because of domestic assembly, taking advantage of the 50% reduction in registration fees for assembled vehicles. Ford Ranger is sold in Vietnam with 6 versions, priced from 628 million VND to 1,202 billion VND.

Unlike Ranger, the rest of the competitors in the segment are imported from Thailand, including Mitsubishi Triton, Mazda BT-50, Isuzu D-Max, and Toyota Hilux.

Mitsubishi Triton ranked second with May sales of 75 units. Ranked third, Mazda BT-50 sold 17 units. At two units fewer, Isuzu D-Max sold 15 units in May. At the bottom of the list is Hilux. Toyota’s pickup model did not deliver any units to customers, similar to April.

In 2022, Ford Ranger sold the most with cumulative sales of 3,348 units. Mitsubishi Triton ranked second at 1,551. The next positions belong to Isuzu D-Max with 372 cars, while Mazda BT-50 sells 300 units, and Toyota Hilux with only 10 cars.
