The new generation Genesis G90 was officially revealed in the Korean market on December 14. On December 17, the luxury sedan officially became available.

On the first day of sale, Genesis G90 2022 has become the choice of over 12,000 Korean customers. This can be considered a record number as the market for luxury sedans in Korea is rather modest.

Genesis G90 2022 is even more popular than the new generation Hyundai Sonata and Avante on the first day of sale despite having a much higher price. It is known that the new generation Hyundai Sonata takes 5 days to reach 10,203 units sold. Meanwhile, the new generation Hyundai Avante only brought in 1,058 buyers on the first day of sale.

This number of 12,000 orders is really a great step forward for the Korean luxury sedan. Previously, in 2020, only 19 Genesis G90 units were sold to customers in the domestic market. At the same time, this figure is higher than the sales of German rivals such as Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series, and Audi A8 in Korea last year. Specific sales of these 3 models were 6,486 units, 2,369 units and 539 units, respectively.

In the Korean market, the Genesis G90 2022 has a significantly more affordable price than its German rivals. Accordingly, the car has a starting price of 89.57 million Won (about 1.73 billion VND) in the regular version, and 165.57 million Won (3.2 billion VND) for the long wheelbase version. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is currently priced from 140.6 to 218.6 million Won (2.72 to 4.23 billion VND) in the Korean market.

As a luxury sedan, Genesis G90 2022 also has many notable equipment such as front/rear LED lighting system, 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, and door handles that automatically pop up when the driver approaches. Users may open the door with a smartphone. Inside, a digital dashboard is connected to the central screen, both have same size of 12.3 inches. There is also a fingerprint scanning system to start the machine and a gearshift knob on the center console.

Furthermore, this Korean model is also equipped with a software update feature via Wi-Fi, a 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with a pop-up tweeter, 2 panoramic sunroofs, and an interior lighting system that can be adjusted independently. Finally, there is the car perfume system with 3 scents, curtains, 4-mode massage front seats, VIP seats in the back, together with two 10.2-inch touchscreens for passengers.

The “heart” of the Genesis G90 2022 in the Korean market is a V6 petrol engine, twin turbocharger, 3.5L in capacity, producing a maximum of 375 horsepower, and a maximum torque of 530 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, standard rear-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive.

Meanwhile, the Genesis G90 2022 long-wheelbase version will use a 48V mild hybrid powertrain with a 6-cylinder, turbocharged, 3.5L petrol engine and standard, all-wheel drive system. In addition, this version is also equipped with a B column and rims that are different from the normal version.

Unfortunately, the safety equipment of Genesis G90 2022 is not different from before, still including features such as Highway Driving Assist 2 and intelligent cruise control system. Hyundai has not put a level-3 automatic driving assistance system on this luxury sedan as promised from the beginning of this year.
