Genesis GV60 2022 luxury SUV presented with unique design

19 Aug 2021

Genesis GV60 2022 comes into the market as a more advanced option over the likes of Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.

In March, Hyundai officially launched a completely new electric car model called Ioniq 5. This is the first Hyundai model designed and built into a fully electric model from the beginning instead of being born as an electric version of an existing product.

This is the first Genesis electric model Hyundai Group launches, named GV60. Like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, Genesis GV60 2022 is developed on the basis of Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) – a platform dedicated to electric vehicles. However, compared to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, the Genesis GV60 is considered to be a more advanced option.

According to Genesis, the letter “G” in GV60 stands for the brand name. Meanwhile, the letter “V” represents the Versatility of this electric car. The lower the number in its name, the sportier the model is. In other words, Genesis wants to refer to the GV6 as its sportiest SUV.

Externally, GV60 2022 also applies the same design language as the current Genesis models on the market. At the front of the car, GV60 2022 is equipped with “Quad Lamps” headlights with 4 horizontal LED strips. Add to that the Crest Grille shield-shaped grille – another identifying feature of the Genesis brand. However, compared to other Genesis models, the grille of the GV60 2022 is smaller and has a slightly adjusted design. In addition, Genesis GV60 2022 also comes with a clamshell hood, creating a seamless front.

Looking to the side, digital cameras replace traditional rearview mirrors. Next is the electric door handle, which will pop out of its body when passengers approach Genesis GV60 2022, and alloy wheels with an eye-catching design. Meanwhile, the roof of the car slopes gradually to the rear and comes with a chrome brace extending from the top of the A-pillar to the rear spoiler.

Behind, Genesis GV60 2022 comes with LED taillights with 4 horizontal light strips, creating a similarity to the front of the car. The fixed spoiler located just below the rear glass, integrated with brake lights also appears on the Korean electric SUV.

Similar to the exterior, the interior also has some unique details, especially the Crystal Sphere crystal ball on the center console. When the car is off, this ball will act as part of the Ambient Lighting system in the interior. When the engine is on, the globe will rotate and the gearshift button will appear.

The remaining highlights of the Genesis GV60 2022 include a large screen on the dashboard, a combination of a digital dashboard, and an infotainment screen. There are 2 additional screens located in 2 corners, near column A, to display images obtained by external digital cameras.

Unfortunately, Genesis has not announced the specifications of the GV60 2022. Therefore, it remains unclear what electric motor and battery this electric SUV employs.
