19 Sep 2020

Despite still selling hundreds of thousands of units each month, but Honda motorcycle sales are decreasing.

In a new report released by Bao Viet Securities Company, Honda motorcycle sales in August fell sharply. Accordingly, only more than 170 thousand vehicles were sold, decrease by 17.3% over the same period.

This is the second lowest selling month of Honda in eight months of 2020. In April 2020, when COVID-19 broke out and social distancing was applied, Honda’s sales decrease by 72% equivalent to 61,000 units, while the same period was 221,000 units.

And in 8 months of business, Honda has 6 months with car sales growing negatively.

According to Bao Viet, in eight months of 2020, Honda sells a total of 1,354 million motorbikes, down 15% over the same period in 2019 equivalent to 1,592 million vehicles.

“As the COVID-19 recurrence has been relatively controlled and September is the peak season for motorcycle in Vietnam market, we expect motorcycle sales in September 2020 to recover strongly compared to the previous month, although it is still likely to be lower than the high base level in the same period last year “, said Bao Viet.
