Honda Vietnam has officially announced the recall of 27,700 cars to fix the fuel pump error that could cause the car to stall while operating.

On May 2, 2021, Honda Vietnam announced the recall of nearly 27,700 cars, including domestically assembled City and a number of CBU imported cars from Thailand, due to the pump, faulty fuel pump can cause the vehicle to stall while operating.

In particular, the first recall involved 8,626 Honda City cars produced at the factory in Vinh Phuc. The recalled Honda City cars are determined to be shipped from January 2 to November 9, 2019.Meanwhile, the second recall involved 19,014 imported Honda cars, including Honda Accord, Jazz and HR-V models produced in Thailand from January 8, 2019 to October 3, 2019. All cars of these two recalls have been distributed to auto consumers in Vietnam.

The cause of the incident was Honda determined to be in the fuel pump impeller on the affected vehicles have a lower material density standard. Through the drying process in the production, surface impeller low density material may arise cracks. These cracks can cause excessive fuel absorption, resulting in the impeller becoming abnormally deformed by the effect of the gasoline.

This deformation in some cases can cause the impeller to touch the pump body, causing the pump to become stuck, unable to supply fuel resulting in the engine stalling or stalling while driving, increasing risk of collision.

Honda Vietnam has not yet recorded any unsafe cases occurring in the market. However, in order to ensure the interests and safety of customers, the company has implemented a recall program and recommended that customers should quickly bring their car to the dealer to replace the standard fuel pump.

These two recalls will start from May 5, 2021 to here and last until May 4, 2023. Honda Vietnam will check and replace the fuel pump without charge for the defective vehicles that are recalled. It is estimated that the repair time per vehicle is about 1 hour – 1 hour 40 minutes.
