Honda to launch electric motorcycles in Vietnam

PCX electric, U-GO, and U-BE – three new Honda electric motorcycle models are likely to be launched in Vietnam in the near future.

At the Honda Thanks Day event on 31st December 2022, Honda Vietnam brought 3 brand new electric motorcycle models to display: PCX Electric, U-Go, and U-Be. This is considered as a market-exploring move of Honda Vietnam to plan for their transition to electric motorcycles market in Vietnam.

According to announcements, PCX Electric can travel continuously for 60 km with a maintained speed of 30-35 km/h. The maximum power of its engine is 4.2kW/rpm, and its maximum speed is 67km/h. The full charge time of this model with a standard charger is about 6 hours. Users can plug in the charger directly on the model or detach the battery from the vehicle to charge at home.

In addition, U-Go and U-Be have also been imported and distributed by some private dealers to Vietnamese customers. In particular, Honda U-Go has been registered for industrial design protection in Vietnam, thus it may soon be sold by authorized dealers.

The standard version of Honda U-Go uses 1.2 kW engine with a maximum power of 1.8 kW. This engine helps the vehicle reach a maximum speed of 53 km/h. Meanwhile, the weaker version uses an 800W engine, with a maximum power of 1.2 kW and has the maximum speed of 43 km/h. Both verions use lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 1.44 kWh, 30Ah and 48V.

Meanwhile, the standard version of Honda U-Be is equipped a battery with capacity of 15Ah and 48V, and has an active range of 55 km. The middle version uses a battery with capacity of 20Ah and 48V with a travel distance of about 70 km. In addition, the highest version using the most advanced battery with capacity of 24 Ah and 48V and has an active range of 80 km.
