At some dealers, Honda Winner X is tens of million VND lower than the company’s proposed price in order to increase competitiveness with the Yamaha Exciter 155 VVA.

In the context that the purchasing power of motorcycles in Vietnam is on the decline, especially in the sports clutch segment, the pair of rivals Honda Winner X and Yamaha Exciter 155 VVA are trying to compete on price to improve sales, thereby keeping the market share.

According to the survey, the price of Honda Winner X is offered at a higher price than in March, about 2-2.5 million VND depending on the version. However, compared to the proposed price of the Japanese automaker, this price is still tens of million VND lower.

Specifically, at some Honda dealers in Ho Chi Minh City, the standard Winner X version has an actual selling price of only VND 34 – 36 million, which is lower than the proposed price by 10.1 to 12.1 million. Meanwhile, the Special version and the Sports version of Honda Winner X cost from VND 50.06 to VND 50.56 million, but at the dealer, these versions only cost from VND 40 million, which is a reduction by about 10 – 10.5 million VND.

Therefore, even though the purchasing power is declining, the selling policies below the suggested price of the HEADs partly help Honda Winner X create an attraction to dominate sales in the sports clutch segment.

Winner X is a product that is somewhat contrary to many Honda scooters. In big cities, scooter models such as Vision, Sh mode, SH… all recorded selling prices higher than the suggested price. Since its launch in Vietnam, Winner X has almost sold at a lower price than the manufacturer’s announced price.

Not only Honda’s clutch models, but Yamaha Exciter also suffers from the same situation of selling below the listed price at dealers. However, Exciter’s reduction is lower. At many dealers, the bike is being offered incentives from 2.5 million VND for 155cc engine versions. “In Hanoi, retail customers rarely buy manual clutch models. Exciter is no longer the same position as it was a few years ago,” said the owner of a Yamaha dealer.

Thus, not only competing in terms of design, equipment, performance or the variety of versions and colors… Honda Winner X and Yamaha Exciter 155 VVA are creating an attractive discount race in the market of Vietnamese motorbikes.
