Italian ADV duo MV Agusta Lucky Explorer Project 9.5 and 5.5 revealed

MV Agusta’s two new Adventure models including Lucky Explorer 5.5 in the mid-range and Lucky Explorer 9.5 in the high-end segment are equipped with a series of branded equipment to provide high performance.

One day before the EICMA 2021 exhibition officially opens, MV Agusta officially introduced its brand new Adventure duo: Luck Explorer 9.5 and Lucky Explorer 5.5, belonging to the ADV Lucky Explorer bike project that the Italian automaker has implemented in the past 2 years.

Lucky Explorer Project 5.5:

First, Lucky Explorer 5.5 is a cooperation product between MV Agusta and Chinese automaker QJ Motors. Powering the bike is a 554cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine. This produces 46.9 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 51 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. Powertrain comes with a 6-speed gearbox.

The legs of Lucky Explorer Project 5.5 include KYB suspension with 43mm upside-down forks in front and single shock absorbers at the rear. Front wheel is at 19-inch and 17 inch for the rear. On the other hand, braking system includes premium Brembo 4-pis brake calipers with 320mm double disc at the front. Meanwhile, Brembo 2 pis brake calipers and 260mm single disc can be seen at the rear. Both integrate Bosch ABS.

As announced, Lucky Explorer Project 5.5 has a seat height of 860 mm, a ground clearance of 210 mm, a wheelbase of 1,503 mm, a dry weight of 219.5 kg, and a fuel tank with a capacity of 24 liters. The bike comes with a TFT color screen integrated with a GPS navigation sensor and the ability to connect to smartphones by Bluetooth.

High-end adventure MV Agusta Lucky Explorer Project 9.5

The second ADV model of MV Agusta is Lucky Explorer Project 9.5 in the high-end segment. The bike has a completely new 3-cylinder engine block developed specifically for the model. This engine block has a capacity of 931 cc, cooled by water and oil. The powertrain produces 121.3 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and 102 Nm at 7,000 rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox or a more advanced Rekluse clutch transmission.

The suspension system of the bike includes Sachs’ adjustible 50mm reverse-stroke electric fork with 22-mm travel; Sachs’ rear electric shock absorber with 210mm travel with the ability to adjust preload, compression, and responsiveness.

In the braking system, MV Agusta Lucky Explorer Project 9.5 owns high-class Brembo Stylema brake tubes, 320mm double disc brake at the front and 265mm single disc at the rear. These are accompanied by Continental’s MK100 ABS brake. In addition, the bike also has ABS to assist in cornering, reducing rear-wheel lag. Unlike the 5.5 model, the Adventure 9.5 model is equipped with 21-inch spokes at the front and 18-inch at the rear with tubeless multi-terrain tires.

The seat height of MV Agusta Lucky Explorer Project 9.5 can vary from 850 mm to 870 mm, the wheelbase is at 1,580mm, the ground clearance is 229mm. The dry weight is announced at 220 kg and the fuel tank has a capacity of 24 liters.

A very notable piece of equipment on Project 9.5 is a 7-inch TFT color screen, which can connect both Bluetooth and Wifi. Besides, there is a full LED lighting system, including navigation lights and cornering lights, cruise monitoring system, brake assist, 8-speed torque control, and anti-theft lock.
