The small MPV segment in Vietnam is getting more and more exciting as it continues to receive rookie Kia Carens.
On 11/11/2022, THACO AUTO officially introduced Kia Carens – Kia’s new generation MPV model. Despite being in the MPV segment, Kia Carens carries the design language of an SUV.
Kia Carens owns a sporty, modern appearance. The car has a measurement of 3 rounds length x width x height of 4,540 x 1,800 x 1,700 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,780 x 4,540 x 1,800 mm. The vehicle has a ground clearance of 190 mm for flexible mobility on a variety of terrains.
The car impresses at first sight with the stylized grille with digital motifs connecting the unique LED positioning lights.
The sporty side panel with angular body lines combined with the glass legs and chrome door handles creates accents. 17” 2-tone wheels with a modern cyclone design combined with wheel arches and longitudinal chrome splints to form a strong and sporty impression for the model.
The rear of the car has LED taillights that are seamlessly connected with a unique constellation map graphic. The 2-tone rear bumper combines with a diamond-patterned chrome strip to give a strong, contrasting impression. The spoiler is designed to optimize aerodynamics, integrated with overhead brake lights to help ensure safe signals when operating on the road.
Regarding the interior, cabin space is modern, spacious, and futuristic. The car is equipped with advanced technology and amenities, inspiring users throughout the journey. A sports D-cut steering wheel integrated with function keys with new logo recognition is available. Additional features include push-button start, power seats, Qi standard wireless charging, central armrest with storage compartment and custom interior backlight adjustment.
There is a sharp 12.5-inch digital instrument cluster, which can change the color interface according to each combined Eco/Normal/Sport driving mode. Along with that is a 10.25-inch central entertainment screen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smart connection with integrated navigation.
The car has a premium 8-speaker Bose surround sound system with “Dynamic Speed Compensation” technology that compensates for the volume according to the speed of the vehicle, providing a consistent audio experience in all operating conditions with powerful bass reproduction using separate subwoofer.
Automatic 2-zone automatic air conditioning system with air vents distributed evenly across the rows of seats. Rows 2 and 3 have smartly designed recessed ceiling vents, independently controlled by each seat position, helping to cool quickly and evenly. The combination of touch and mechanical buttons gives a modern impression while ensuring convenience. In addition, the 1-touch control sunroof opens and closes more gently and safely with the anti-clamp function to bring a comfortable and airy space to the interior space of Kia Carens.
The front row of seats is sporty and youthful and equipped with unique cooling features & utilities in the segment. 8-way electric driver’s seat can adjust height, recline angle, adjust seat cushion, and forward/reverse.
The second row of seats is spacious with 2 options: 6 seats with 2 rows of Captain Seats, or 7 seats including 3 connecting seats, which can be folded 60:40 flexibly by pressing a button. 3rd row seats with adjustable backrest angle, 95 – 128 flexible for a recline of up to 33 degrees to increase comfort along with specialized amenities for each sitting position.
Kia Carens owns a large luggage compartment that can be changed flexibly with many different customizations, even when using all 3 rows of seats. The trunk behind the 3rd row seats can hold 4 suitcases of 22″, equivalent to 80 kg of luggage, which is more convenient for long trips.
In addition, the model is also added with unique amenities in the segment such as a water tray in the taplo area with cooling function, a convenient storage compartment for small items, a welcome light with Kia logo when opening the rear door, and multi-function table for 2nd row seats.
All 3 rows of seats are equipped with a USB port system, a 12V power port, and a convenient type-C charging port.
On the other hand, the model is also designed with some additional equipment such as water cup holders for the front and rear seats with cooling function, and a storage compartment under the front passenger seat, a storage position on the side of the door. Kia’s meticulousness in interior space design, optimizing useful locations and free space, brings the highest convenience to customers.
Kia Carens brings a class and different experience from the leading smart technology equipment in the segment such as the remote car start feature with a smart key; customers can start the engine and turn on the air conditioner, helping to create a pleasant atmosphere before entering the car.
Regarding the engine, Kia Carens offers powerful, flexible, durable, and fuel-efficient performance with 3 engine options: 1.5L Gasoline, 1.4L turbocharged petrol, and 1.5L Diesel.
The engine is a new generation Smartstream 1.5L gasoline engine with a capacity of 113 horsepower and maximum torque of 144 Nm, improved with dual injectors. Integration with smart technology to help the model ensure fuel economy combined with IVT brings a smooth and flexible operating feeling in urban areas.
The new generation 1.4L Turbo SmartStream engine with turbocharger technology has a compact size and light weight, increasing the capacity of 138 Hp and torque of 242Nm, providing strong performance and fuel economy. In addition, the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT) allows for fast gear changes, providing a smooth driving feeling along with optimal fuel consumption.
The 1.5L Diesel engine has a maximum capacity of 113 horsepower and maximum torque of 250 Nm, applying the new generation CRDi high-pressure fuel injection technology to optimize the fuel combustion process, providing excellent handling performance. Combined with the 1.5L Diesel engine is a 6-speed automatic transmission (6AT).
In terms of safety equipment, Kia Carens is fully equipped with modern and intelligent safety technologies with a 4-wheel disc brake system, ABS, ESC, HAC, DBC, and TPMS.
On the other hand, the chassis has a solid structure and high safety, 3-point safety belts for all seats; ISOFIX child keychains equipped on Kia Carens to enhance safety for drivers as well as passengers on board.
