Mazda CX-5 2022 bears slight upgrades compared to the previous version.

After being leaked images in China, the new version of the Mazda CX-5 C-class crossover has been officially launched in the North American market. Although being an upgraded version, the Mazda CX-5 2022 only possesses a slightly updated design compared to before.

True to the leaked image, Mazda CX-5 2022 is added a new grille with a design reminiscent of Mazda3. Surrounding the grille is a thicker chrome brace, which no longer extends to the end of the headlights as before.

On either side of the grille is an improved headlight cluster with 2 rectangular lights inside. This change brings a sharper design to Mazda’s best-seller in the North American market.

Compared to the front of the car, the rear design of the Mazda CX-5 2022 has fewer changes. Mazda added a new rear light cluster with 2 rectangular lights inside, similar to the headlights. Underneath which are the smaller reflectors, which sit higher than before, and exhaust pipes integrate into the new black paneling on the rear bumper. In addition, the braille stamp on the rear trunk door is also applied with Mazda’s new font, in the same style as the CX-30.

Not only has the design changed, but the new model no longer has Grand Touring Reserve version. Instead, a new 2.5 Turbo version, using a turbocharged engine. To distinguish it from the rest of the naturally aspirated versions, Mazda CX-5 2.5 Turbo 2022 is equipped with glossy black exterior details. Meanwhile, the interior of the 2.5 Turbo version has red accents, including stitching.

More premium is the 2.5 Turbo Signature version with painted wheel cavity edges in the same body color and bright silver alloy wheels. Stepping inside this version, drivers are in for luxurious materials such as wood paneling and Nappa leather. Mazda’s purpose is to raise the level of the CX-5 close to being a luxury model. In addition, there is a new Mi-Drive mode selector and redesigned seats to increase comfort for occupants.

Another highlight of the Mazda CX-5 2022 is the more sensitive automatic transmission, which helps the car accelerate smoother. In addition, a different suspension system helps to reduce vibration and noise from outside.

The car comes with standard AWD. Not only the CX-5, but all Mazda crossovers in the North American market, from the CX-3 to the CX-9, will come with standard AWD.
