The C300 series has a risk of fire if a short circuit occurs in the trunk control box, while the GLE, GLS have a fault with the decorative bar on the rear door.

The Vietnam Registry has just issued a notice to recall three genuine models C300, GLE, and GLS imported and sold in Vietnam. The number of Mercedes C300 cars affected is 126 units, manufactured in the period of May 20211-5/2022. The remaining 840 units are GLE 450 4Matic, GLS 450 4Matic, GLS Maybach 480 4Matic, and GLS Maybach 600 4Matic, produced in the period of July 2019 – January 2022.

For the C300 model (W206 generation), there is a risk of rainwater entering the inside of the rear trunk. Moisture can thus seep into the signal acquisition and activation module (SAM module) inside the trunk.

In this case, a short circuit may occur in the control box and the risk of fire cannot be eliminated. In addition, short circuiting can lead to various problems, for example damage to the taillights. The company recalled adding a water block to the module that receives the signal and activates it to prevent problems.

GLE, GLS models are recalled repairing the trim bar in the triangle window (rear door), equipment may not meet specifications due to deviations in the assembly process. As a result, the decorative bars may separate from the vehicle while the vehicle is in motion, potentially causing an accident or injury to other road users.

The recall of the above models of Mercedes Vietnam is done at Mercedes’ authorized dealer system nationwide and free of charge. The time to fix the error on the C300 is about 60 minutes, the remaining lines are 30 minutes. The recall program runs from 10 November 2022 to December 31, 2027.

With non-genuine imported C300, GLE, and GLS models, Mercedes Vietnam also supports free error correction if the vehicle is on the global recall list of Mercedes AG.
