Positive signal from the global semiconductor chip market

In 2021, Americans used to face difficulties because the supply of cars and vehicles in general was limited: car rental services had to buy used cars for business instead of new ones. The main reason comes from rising steel prices and scarce supply – steel is the main metal that makes up the chassis and vehicle engines.

The crisis of chips and electronic component shortages also gradually spread to the world, including Vietnam. From tightening policies due to the pandemic to political turbulences, the supply chain, which has faced many obstacles, is now even more scarce. Due to the shortage of semiconductors, components, spare parts, and many other related factors, car manufacturers have to cut down on global production.

The good news is on July 21 – Many leaders of major manufacturing corporations around the world admit that the shortage of semiconductor chips has improved after a long period of shortage (According to AFP). CEO Bjorn Rosengren of ASEA Brown Boveri Switzerland (ABB), a solution provider for robotics and vehicle manufacturing, confirmed that chip supply bottlenecks have eased. He predicts that the world manufacturing market can achieve double-digit growth in the next 3 months, the increase in chip supply means that the selling price of finished products will cool down.

Honda Vietnam’s efforts in meeting the needs of the market

As one of the leading manufacturers in the domestic market, Honda Vietnam (HVN) is no exception. In the first half of 2022, supply chain disruptions have restricted the supply of some locally produced scooter models. A representative of HVN said that Honda’s total scooter sales in June decreased by more than half compared to the same period last year.

Regarding the reason for the shortage of domestic motorbike market, the Ministry of Industry and Trades said that the reason comes from a shortage of chip supply, which increased input costs for production. In fact, currently, Vietnam has not been able to produce chips, but mainly imported from China, Korea, and Japan.

China implemented the “Zero COVID” policy, so many factories had to produce in moderation or even closed down, greatly affecting the chip supply of the global auto, electronics, and motorcycle industries.

In the context of supply chain disruptions that have improved since July 2022, a representative of HVN said that the company was able to start supplying some scooter models after months of deep sales decline. HVN always tries to meet scooter the needs of customers nationwide.

According to the survey, mass Honda scooters have been distributed to dealers with full colors and types. In addition, retail prices at HEADs have fallen sharply compared to the time when sales fell sharply due to limited supply of global semiconductor chips. The retail price of the Honda VISION model is recorded at VND 36 – 37 million for the standard version.

Besides, HEADs across the country are having many attractive promotions for customers such as deposit, discounts, lucky draw, gift cards… to thank customers for trusting and supporting HVN’s products in the past.

This is a good sign for customers who want to own a Honda VISION after a period of price fluctuations. According to the explanation of some sales staff at the dealer, the reason for the decrease in the price is because the supply is more abundant.

In Vietnam, Honda VISION is a popular scooter model with impressive sales, loved by many for its elegant, compact, and youthful design.
