According to the survey, Honda authorized dealers are currently selling Wave Alpha with prices ranging from 17.5 to 17.6 million VND while the list price is 17.79 million.

Therefore, dealers are selling Wave Alpha at cheaper prices than the suggested price of 190-290 thousand VND.

In the first eight months of 2020, Honda sold 270,682 Wave Alpha units, the best-selling product of its current models.

Wave Alpha appeared in the market in the early 2000s with the mission of a cheap bike to combat the wave of China entering Vietnam and competing against Honda’s market share.

It was Chinese motorcycles that forced Honda to limit markup on Vietnamese consumers. And after decades, Wave Alpha has been continuously improved and is still considered as a cheap motorcycle, though Chinese motorcycles have disappeared from the Vietnamese market for a long time.

With the selling prices below the proposed one of 190-290 thousand VND, Honda had to offset the loss from 52-79 billion dong in eight months of 2020.
