Toyota launches C+ Walk – electric motorcycle for the elderly

According to a Toyota survey, people over the age of 75 have a tendency to go out less 10% often than those over the age of 65 due to health issues. This is the reason why the Japanese automaker released the C+ Walk and C+ Pod products as vehicles “for everyone”.

In particular, C+ Walk is a model designed exclusively for the elderly with the purpose of supporting moving short distances for promenade, or shopping. The vehicle has a simple structure with a steering wheel in the form of a car steering wheel, a seat with a backrest that forms a comfortable sitting position when moving. The control panel is also fairly simple with an LCD meter that displays simple parameters including speed, remaining battery power and other alerts.

The C+ Walk is equipped with a brushless electric motor with a maximum speed of 6km/h, equivalent to walking speed. It uses push-button for speed controls, also has both reverse gear and two handbrakes, lighting system assists moving in the dark. The vehicle is powered by a lithium battery for a journey of 12km/charge, taking 2.5 hours to fully charge using the included 100V charger.

The vehicle has comfortable legroom and is placed on a 3-inch tubeless 10-wheel system with 1 front and 2 rear wheels for balance. It also includes a storage compartment up to 30 liters wide under the seats for storage purposes.

Despite simple design, the equipments on the vehicle are as modern as high-end cars. Specifically, the vehicle is equipped with a sensor system that scans and recognizes obstacles ahead, thereby giving audible and visual warnings and slowing down the vehicle. It also has a turn detection sensor, which automatically slows down to ensure the safety of the driver. With a turning radius of only 0.95m, the vehicle also has the flexibility when moving in narrow spaces.

The listed selling price of Toyota C+ Walk in Japan is 505,000 yen, equivalent to about 89.3 million VND.
