TOYOTA URBAN CRUISER 2020 B-SIZED SUV OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED AT INCREDIBLY AFFORDABLE PRICE

24 Sep 2020

Developed based on the Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Toyota Urban Cruiser 2020 B-sized SUV has a starting price of only 840,000 Rupees (about VND 263 million VND).

Toyota has officially launched their new B-sized SUV called Urban Cruiser in the Indian market. In fact, the Toyota Urban Cruiser 2020 is not a completely new model. Instead, this is a modified in design and renamed version of the budget SUV Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which is selling well in the Indian market.

True to the previously leaked images, the Toyota Urban Cruiser 2020 has a design that is basically the same as the Suzuki Vitara Brezza because these two models share the same chassis. Of course, Toyota still adds some distinct details to help customers distinguish these two.

Accordingly, Toyota Urban Cruiser is equipped with a front grille with 2 horizontal spokes, unlike Suzuki Vitara Brezza. In addition, Toyota’s B-sized SUV also has LED headlights divided into 2 compartments, integrated with LED daytime navigation lights and turn signals. On the bumpers stands a bold trapezoidal fog light socket.

In general, the front design of this SUV bears a quite similar style to the new Toyota Fortuner. Therefore, it is not uncommon for Urban Cruiser to be called “Toyota Fortuner Jr.”.

Unlike the front end, the sides and rear design of the Toyota Urban Cruiser is almost entirely carried from Suzuki Vitara Brezza. From LED taillights, roof spoiler integrated overhead brake lights to 16-inch wheels, all are similar to Suzuki’s model. The purpose of this is to keep the price low for the Toyota Urban Cruiser.

Inside the Toyota Urban Cruiser is a dark brown interior space, unlike Suzuki Vitara. Meanwhile, the rest of the interior details are identical.

The B-sized Toyota SUV offers notable interior equipment such as a start button, automatic air conditioning, 7-inch touch screen of the Smart Playcast infotainment system, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, smartphone-based navigation system and anti-glare rearview mirror. In addition, cruise control system, USB/AUX port, integrated steering wheel function keys and automatic wipers are available.

The power supply for the Toyota Urban Crusier 2020 is also brought from Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Accordingly, the car is equipped with a 4-cylinder 1.5L gasoline engine, generating a maximum capacity of 105 HP at 4,400 RPM and a maximum torque of 138 Nm at 6,000 RPM while simultaneously combined with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.

All automatic versions of this B-sized SUV have a lithium-ion battery cluster with an integrated starter generator (ISG), which supports torque, brake regeneration, quality and Start-Stop feature.

In the Indian market, Toyota’s new B-sized SUV is divided into a total of 6 equipment versions. The price of Toyota Urban Cruiser 2020 ranges from 840,000 – 1,130,000 Rupee (about 263 – 354 million VND).

The Urban Cruiser is in fact not the first Toyota model to be launched based on a Suzuki. Before this SUV, there was a small Toyota Glanza hatchback that was developed based on the Suzuki Baleno. In the past few months, Suzuki has also introduced two models developed from Toyota cars, which are Across and Swace.
