Vinfast to establish new assembly plant in Germany

23 Jan 2022

The addition of a new assembly plant is paramount when Vinfast identifies Europe as the primary market for their electronic vehicles.

VinFast sẽ có nhà máy lắp ráp xe điện tại Đức, hiệu suất dự kiến lên tới 250.000 xe/năm, bắt đầu đi vào hoạt động vào năm 2025.

According to Automotive News Europe, VinFast and the German Trade and Investment administration (GTAI) are working together to find a location to build a factory to assemble electric cars and buses in Germany. According to the information from VinFast Global General Director – Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy: “Transporting cars around the world is no longer the right strategy, especially since the pandemic. … having assembly plants near the markets is essential to attracting customers.” VinFast believes that Europe will be the main market due to the increasing trend of shifting from fuel cars to electric cars.

In addition, Ms. Thuy also said that before Mr. Michael Lohscheller resigned as General Director of VinFast worldwide for personal reasons, he had selected 5 possible locations in Germany, of which 2 were still operating. According to the previous plan, VinFast will open sale of electric car models of the global product range in Germany, France, and the Netherlands in the next few months. Of course, these cars will be imported from the factory from Hai Phong, Vietnam.

At the CES 2022, VinFast announced its pure-electric strategy by the end of 2022 and launched a global electric vehicle product range, stretching from segments A to E. In which, 2 models VF8 and VF9 in the D and E segments are now available for online orders in the US and Vietnam. According to information from the Vietnamese automaker, the two had brought in more than 24,000 orders after only 48 hours of opening.

For the Vietnamese market, when ordering VinFast VF8 and VF9, users will receive multiple attractive promotions. First, when depositing 10 million VND in advance, Vietnamese customers will be given a car voucher worth VND 150 million for VF8 and VND 250 million for VF9, along with a mobile charger, ADAS driver assistance package, Smart Service worth 132 million VND, and resort package at Vinpearl beach villa for 4 people in 7 days.

With the cessation of production of gasoline car models including Fadil, Lux A2.0 and Lux SA2.0, VinFast has increased its warranty policy to 10 years or 200,000 km (whichever comes first) and initiated Mobile Service. In addition, they also commit to serving the end of the life cycle of each gasoline car sold on the market. The number of spare parts and components available for service has also been estimated to be 1.5 times higher than usual.
