VinFast’s electric car model is rated 4 stars by ASEAN NCAP car safety rating organization.

On the homepage of ASEAN NCAP, VinFast VF e34 is announced to achieve a 4-star certification with its standard equipment safety system scoring 78.99.

The pure-electric C-size crossover is evaluated for its ability to protect adults (35.92/40 points), protect children (17.71/20), and the level of safety for motorcyclists (12.5/20). The tests were carried out at the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC).

The VF e34 scored 12.86 out of 20 in the safety assistance category, with standard systems including lane departure warning and rear cross-traffic alert and automatic high beams. The car is also equipped with e-Call (to contact emergency services) and has blind spot monitoring.

In addition to active safety systems, VF e34 has 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, door opening warning, and a variety of other passive safety systems such as ABS, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist, electric balance, traction control, and hill start assist. However, the car does not have automatic emergency braking – the factor that makes the Vietnamese model miss out in this category and, therefore, the 5-star certification.

On the market, other small high-rise models in the same price range of the VF e34, such as the MG ZS, Honda HR-V, or Toyota Corolla Cross has achieved 5-star safety certification of ASEAN NCAP. However, not all are sold in Vietnam. For example, the HR-V model tested and certified by ASEAN NCAP is a vehicle made in Thailand and intended for the Brunei market, while the Cross is manufactured in Thailand and sold in this market itself. The MG ZS 2020 also achieved 5 stars was produced in Thailand for sale in both Thailand and Vietnam.

In Vietnam, VinFast started selling VF e34 from March 2021, priced at VND 690 million. The electric crossover is equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 110 kW (150 hp) and 242 Nm of torque. Range of operation stands at 300 km after each full charge. Fast charged for 15 minutes, the car can go 180 km.
