It is expected that Skoda will launch in Vietnam 4 new models in April this year, including two of sedans and two of SUVs.

Skoda sẽ ra mắt Việt Nam vào tháng 4/2023

On Skoda’s official website for the Vietnamese market, the Czech automaker opened up about the launch time on April 4 with an image of a Skoda Kodiaq. Currently, this website is still under construction, thus there is no more specific information.

At the same time, Skoda Vietnam fanpage on social networks posted some more information and photos about Skoda factory built in Viet Hung industrial park, Ha Long, Quang Ninh. Outside the factory building land are many banners with images of cars that will be assembled in Vietnam soon.

According to the plan announced earlier, Skoda will bring back four models this year and all imported as complete-built units from Europe: Octavia, Superb, Karoq and Kodiaq. Currently It is not known whether Skoda will introduce all 4 models at the same time in April.

The first one is Skoda Octavia model in the C-class sedan segment, competing with Kia K3, Toyota Corolla Altis or Honda Civic. The equipment of the car in the international market is quite modern with full LED lighting, 19-inch wheels, digital dashboard behind the steering wheel, 10-inch entertainment screen, automatic air conditioning, electronic handbrake.

In terms of performance, the Czech Skoda Octavia has two petrol engine options. In particular, the 1.5L machine has a maximum capacity of 147 horsepower, while the 2.0L machine produces 187 horsepower, all using a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, Superb is positioned in the D-class sedan segment, on par with Toyota Camry, Mazda6 or Honda Accord. The interior and exterior design of this model is somewhat not as eye-catching as the junior “Octavia”, perhaps needing a comprehensive upgrade to increase competitiveness.

In addition to the two octavia-like petrol engine options, Skoda Superb also has a Hybrid version aimed at fuel economy. It is not clear which versions Skoda will distribute, but before the trend of “green cars” blooming in Vietnam, Superb Hybrid still has oppurtunity in this country.

The Skoda Karoq is a C-size SUV, on par with Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage. The car has a 5-seat design with the same internal convenient equipment as Octavia. On the premium version, this model also has a panoramic sunroof, 3-zone automatic air conditioner. The petrol engine also comes in 1.5L and 2.0L options, the interior has the same equipment as the Octavia but is more outstanding with a panoramic sunroof and 3-zone automatic air conditioning in the premium version.

Skoda Kodiaq is the largest SUV, one level higher than the Karoq. The rival of this model will be Kia Sorento or Hyundai Santa Fe. The Skoda Kodiaq is based on the undercarriage of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace with a 7-seat interior. In the international market, the car has two options of gasoline or oil engines.

All four models in the first phase will be distributed by Skoda in Vietnam as imports. The Czech brand will have an assembly plant located in Ha Long (Quang Ninh), expected to officially operate in 2024 with an area of up to 36.5ha with a capacity of 120,000 vehicles per year.
