Although the sales of the Honda CR-V have increased strongly, the sales of Honda Vietnam automobile in August still decreased compared to the same period last year.
According to the sales record announced by Honda Vietnam, in August, the company delivered 1,634 cars to consumers, an increase of 38% over the previous month but still 12% lower than the same period last year. In particular, Honda CR-V once again became the best-selling car model of Honda in Vietnam with sales of 935 units, 7 times compared to the previous July.
This result is not unexpected because 2020 Honda CR-V (an upgrade in the middle of the life cycle) was launched by Honda Vietnam on July 30, so the July sales of this C-seg crossover hit the bottom because most users are waiting for the new version with more impressive upgrades. Immediately after the launch of 2020 Honda CR-V, dealers quickly applied the incentive to give accessories with a value of up to tens million VND, in some places up to 100 million VND, but the sales of this model has not exploded as expected.
Regarding the second best-selling car of Honda Vietnam, Honda City’s sales in August decreased slightly compared to July, only 459 cars although this model is still applied big discounts on cash, gifts and accessories by dealers. Since the launch of Kia Soluto, Honda City’s sales have decreased, no longer being the third best-selling car in the B-sedan segment.
Previously, in June 2020, Honda City surprised with record sales of 2,183 cars, beating rival Toyota Vios for the first time and becoming the best-selling car in Vietnam market, but then the sale of this model was once again back on track. Perhaps it is time for Honda City to be upgraded in Vietnam to be more competitive.
