NEW GENERATION OF HYUNDAI TUCSON OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED WITH COMPREHENSIVE CHANGES

16 Sep 2020

For the new generation, the CUV Tucson model is not only different from models in the same segment but also completely different from other cars in the Hyundai product roster.

It will be difficult to confuse the Hyundai Tucson 2021 with the previous generation model thanks to the impressive grille and light clusters. The trapezoidal car grille with LED daytime running lights makes the front part of the car T-shaped, which is quite impressive. Hyundai did not provide a picture when the LED lights were off, but it promises to retain its aggressiveness.

The headlights are set a little lower, similar to the style on the Santa Fe or Kona. Meanwhile, the taillights are an extended LED strip with two pairs of LEDs hooked down, creating new impressions. The front and rear bumper of the Tucson are also sportier.

In addition to the head and tail, the body of the Tucson also has a special highlight. The bodywork has angular stamping arrow-like lines, similar to the “junior” Elantra recently released. The flanks emerge with chrome strips on the door, ending with a large section in the C-column and the luggage compartment door. The metal roof rack and shark fin decoration enhance the body lines. This makes the car look shorter and more aggressive than usual.

Hyundai Tucson 2021 has a very special design, making it extremely prominent in the 5-seater SUV segment. However, the car is not only different from its competitors but also much different from other models of the same line. It shares a bit of Elantra’s edgy design, but inherited absolutely nothing from the elegance of Palisade or Santa-Fe, or the robustness of the KONA and Venue lines.

Contrary to its somewhat aggressive appearance, the Tucson’s interior looks rather soft. The interior design feels extremely modern with a new 4-spoke steering wheel, similar to the Sonata series. A large 10.3-inch center screen is positioned vertically in the center of the dashboard, and the hump creates a fancy feel. Next to it is the digital clock cluster with a customizable interface. In lower versions, the screen is 8 inches wide.

Hyundai removed the traditional gear lever on the 2021 Tucson and the air-conditioning buttons, and replaced it with more modern controls. The car supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as allowing Bluetooth connectivity for 2 devices at the same time.

Surrounding the dashboard and center console are two beautiful silver trimming strips. The thin elongated ventilation slots are clipped along this trim. Sitting in the Hyundai Tucson 2021, the owner can control some smart interior devices at home, such as lights and air conditioning.

In addition, the new Tucson also has an air quality monitoring system. It monitors exterior pollution using a fine dust sensor, while also monitoring interior air quality, cleaning and balancing cabin humidity when needed.

The standard engine of the 2021 Tucson will be a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder with an estimated capacity of 190 HP and 260 Nm. The 8-speed automatic transmission is the only transmission on this engine. Hyundai Tucson hybrid will use a 4-cylinder 1.6L turbocharger, combined with an electric motor for a total capacity of 230 horsepower and maximum torque of 350 Nm. The cars are equipped with FWD and HTRAC AWD. The car retains the driving modes such as Eco, Comfort, Smart, Sport and added 3 new: Mud, Sand, Snow.

Similar to its compatriots from Korea, the 2021 Hyundai Tucson also has a long list of safety and driver-assist technologies. The most notable are: front collision monitoring and prevention with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring, and features in the Hyundai Highway Driving Assist package.

Compared to the previous gen, Tucson promises to only slightly increase the selling price, the 2021 versions will have prices ranging from $ 24,000 to $ 33,000, equivalent to 556 to 765 million VND. Particularly, the Hybrid version will have a higher price bracket, about 27,000 – 35,000 USD, equivalent to 626 to 811 million VND.

Hyundai Tucson 2021 will open for sale in Korea from September 2020. Other markets are promised to be available by early 2021.
