In addition to the revelation of interior photos, Honda City 2020 will also have a new engine which considered is best performer in B-class sedan segment.
Contrary to the belief that all the attention would be directed towards to the mid-life upgrade of Hyundai Accent, recently, the upcoming information about Honda City 2020 ignites interest among customers. Specifically, the official fanpage of Honda Vietnam was updated with full sets of interior photos of Honda City 2020 before the launching date. Although the specifications were leaked, customers are still able to take notes of a few features.
According to the specifications sheet earlier revealed, the interior of the Honda City 2020 RS version will use different materials including leather, suede, and high-quality felt for the seats.
In terms of design, the car’s steering wheel is shaped same as the Honda Accord with 3 spokes, 8-inch screen with Apple CarPlay connection available, and armrest fully equipped on both rows of seats.
Particularly, the automatic AC unit can be remotely started by smart key (on the RS version). Although this is a unique feature available on the Honda Civic C-class, this is the first time that it is seen on the B-class segment. Honda City seems the leading car of B-class segment thanks to the car’s leading tech features.
In addition to detailed specifications of interior, the official fanpage of Honda Vietnam also revealed that the Honda City 2020 will be equipped with a completed new engine. Although it is still equipped a gasoline engine with a capacity of 1.5L, this engine has a different code from previous versions: L15ZC. According to Registry Department, the new engine was changed from SOHC to DOHC, making the power slightly improved compared to the previous model with a capacity up to 119 HP and it is the most powerful in this segment according to the manufacturer.
According to the plan, Honda Vietnam will launch Honda City 2020 on December 9. Although the car will still be assembled in Vietnam, there is yet to be an available unit. Customers will have to wait until early 2021 to receive the car despite their deposit. Therefore, customers purchasing a new City will miss the 50% discount in registration fees as Decree 70/2020 / ND-CP, which only takes effect until the end of this year.
Honda City 2020 will have 3 versions: G, L, RS with expected prices 560, 600, and 620 million VND, respectively. These prices are the highest in this B-class segment. However, this is a plan of Honda because Honda City is aimed for individual customers who not buying for service business.
The safety equipment of the upcoming Honda City 2020 will not differ from previous version as it is not equipped with the Honda Sensing technology package. Specifically, the car still has ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution EBD, Brake Assist BA, Hill-Start Assist System HAS, emergency brake ESS, Vehicle Stability Assist VSA, Traction Control System, and Rear-view camera
