The Volkswagen Tiguan R is an upgrade of the Tiguan midsize sporty SUV, equipped with a more powerful engine and equipment to improve the overall performance and experience of the car.
Recently, Volkswagen has officially launched the Tiguan R, the first high-performance version that belong to the best midsize SUVs of the German automaker. Volkswagen Tiguan R is the combination between power of sports car and versatility of SUV.
Under the bonnet is an EA888 engine, 4 cylinders, 2.0L turbocharger, accompanied with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and a full-time 4WD system. Thanks to this equipment, Volkswagen Tiguan R gets a power of 320 horsepower and max torque of 420 Nm, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
In addition to the powerful engine, Volkswagen also equips Tiguan R with 4Motion and R-Performance, the rear axle of the car has a draft shaft integrating two clutches, helping to distribute traction between the front and rear wheels, as well as the right and left ones. Based on those points, VW confidently asserted that Tiguan R was “a new standard in the performance of SUVs”.
According to Volkswagen, Tiguan R is upgraded to an 18-inch blue brake system. Coming with that is a Dynamic Chassis Control DCC that enables the car to lower the chassis by 10 mm. In addition to the available driving modes, Tiguan R high-performance version will add an R mode. This mode will be activated by pressing the R button on the steering wheel. Other standard equipment on the car includes Electronic speed control (ESC) with the ability to turn on / off on demand and the exhaust system with 4 exhaust pipes.
Customers can request to equip optional upgrade such as Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, 21-inch Estoril alloy wheels and upgrade package, Black Style.
