The small-sized SUV of Chevrolet is the last Trax model to be equipped with Direct Gasoline Injection.

Trax has never been a global “heavyweight” model of Chevy but the small SUV is at least more favorable than those of the same type as others in the segment have ceased to exist long before. Furthermore, Trax was suddenly upgraded the new engine with the 1.4L turbocharger.

Specifically, the cylinder capacity is still 1.4L but this engine is a completely new type using turbochargers for a capacity of up to 153 HP, 240 Nm of torque – a sharp increase compared to configuration of previous version (1.4L based on the original EcoTec) at 138 HP, 201 Nm. This new engine uses Direct Gasoline Injection and this feature also appeared on the Cruze.

However, the most important factor that users were concerned about of Trax is the unrevealed price. In its segment, Trax is not only more expensive than rivals, but also the technology is not as good as its competitors, making this car lose to Korean and Japanese brands. In the contrast, the larger Trailblazer which came back last year is in the top of its segment in both of aforementioned segments, not to mention that the car design is also much trendier.

Perhaps in the near future, Trax will be eliminated by Chevy/GM after the current generation ends in the context that the Trailblazer is doing well and the GM does not have ability to invest in a new generation of a risky cars like Trax (especially Trailblazer is cheaper than Trax). The updated version 2021 with new engine could be the last time that we see Trax in newspaper before it is permanent disappearance.
