Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2021 is a product developed by a team of engineers based in Thailand.

In the past, Toyota had been working hard to launch the GR Sport version of a series of models. After Indonesia, models in Thai market are next come with GR Sport version. In addition to Fortuner GR Sport, Toyota Hilux also launches its new version in Thailand.

Hilux GR Sport 2021 is a product developed by Toyota Thailand’s engineering team and has both high and low chassis configurations. In the Thai market, low-chassis pickup trucks are very popular.

High-clearance version of Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2021 is developed based on the most advanced Rocco. Unlike the Rocco, the high-clearance Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2021 has some notable changes such as grille border, tire cornering, and painted body braces. Meanwhile, in the Rocco version, these exterior details are painted in gray.

Next is the new white “Toyota” branding on the grille, instead of the Japanese brand’s logo. This design is also applied to the Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport 2022. Below the front of the car is the underbody protection panel and new black front fog lamp socket.

In addition, said model has red and black decals pasted on the side of the car as well as the rear trunk. These are 2 typical colors of stamps used for Toyota Gazoo Racing racing cars.

The remaining changes of the Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2021 for the Thai market include 18-inch alloy wheels with a 6-spoke design, 2 colorways, and “GR Sport” logo around the car.

Meanwhile, the low-rise Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2021 is developed based on the Z Edition, inspired by the design of the Super GT car. Not only is it 23 mm lower, but the low chassis is also equipped with a sportier body kit than the high chassis: a spoiler under the front bumper, side skirts, and a rear diffuser.

In addition, the low-rise Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2021 also has an air vent in the front fender, model-specific decals, and 17-inch black alloy wheels. Similar to the high-rise version, low-rise Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2021 also has black exterior mirror caps and the GR logo on the brake shackles.

Despite of the variation, the Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2021 is equipped with a GR steering wheel with red stitching and lines at the 12 o’clock position. In addition, gray details, metal pedals, and suede-covered seats, embroidered with the “GR” logo on the headrests can be seen in the model. Even the dashboard is dedicated to the GR Sport version, the infotainment screen with the GR logo when starting and the GR engine start button of the two versions are the same.

Underneath the bonnet of the Toyota Hilux GR Sport 2021 in the Thai market is a 4-cylinder, turbocharged, 2.8L diesel engine block with a maximum capacity of 204 horsepower and 500 Nm in maximum torque at 1,600 – 2,800 rpm. The engine combines with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission as well as 4-wheel drive in the high chassis and rear-wheel drive in the low-rise version.

According to Toyota, low-rise Hilux GR Sport 2021 has higher aerodynamic performance and reduces the risk of tipping over. Meanwhile, the high chassis is equipped with a new single shock absorber.

In the Thai market, the price of the new Toyota Hilux GR Sport version ranges from 889,000 – 1,299,000 Baht (about 618 – 904 million VND).
