After one year since introducing the Hyundai Ioniq 5 to the Vietnamese market, TC Motor has decided to open the sale of this electric model. According to some sources, the commercial version of the Ioniq 5 has been completed, assembled at Thanh Cong’s factory and is expected to be officially launched in June or July. This electric model will be distributed with at least 2 versions and priced below 1.5 billion VND.

The direct competitor of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be VinFast VF 8. Compared to the expected price of the electric car model from Korea, VF 8 has the advantage of owning a list price (without battery) starting from 1.09 billion VND and the highest is 1.29 billion VND.

Battery charging can be a big problem for the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Except for VinFast which has a system of public charging stations, electric car sellers in the market such as Mercedes, Porsche, Audi … provide a vehicle-based charger for users to charge at home. In addition, there are charging plants installed at some dealers, but the number is not much, each place has only 1-2 posts.

The Ioniq 5 is built on the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) used for Hyundai’s most advanced electric vehicles. This model has dimensions length x width x height of 4,635 x 1,890 x 1,605 mm and wheelbase of 3,000 mm.

In Vietnam market, Hyundai Ioniq 5 uses a single engine combined with a 72.6 kWh battery pack. The electric motor provides over 214 horsepower and torque of 350 Nm, helping the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 185 km/h. The battery pack on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350-kW power supply. However, with a vehicle-based charger, when charging the home power supply, it takes up to 20 hours to fully charge. Each time fully charged; the Hyundai Ioniq 5 travels a maximum distance of about 450 km.
