To stimulate demand in July, Mitsubishi Vietnam has launched a series of promotions for its current and unsold models, including the XFC. These promotions include 100% or 50% support for registration fees (depending on imported or assembled vehicles), cash reductions, and gift giveaways.

The highest reduction is offered for the Pajero Sport, with all versions being reduced by 220 million VND, resulting in prices ranging from 910-1,145 million VND. This significant reduction is aimed at providing more incentives to customers, as the imported Pajero Sport is not eligible for the government’s 50% registration fee program for assembled cars.

Other assembled models in the segment have lower promotions. For example, the Hyundai Santa Fe is currently reduced by 60-90 million VND in July, while the Toyota Fortuner (with imported 2.7 petrol engines) is reduced by 50-70 million VND. The Ford Everest, which is imported from Thailand like the Pajero Sport, is supported by a 50% registration fee reduction, resulting in a rolling cost reduction of approximately 30-50 million VND.

In addition to the Pajero Sport, other Mitsubishi models also offer discounts in the form of registration fee and accessory support. While registration fee incentives do not directly reduce the car prices, they help reduce the overall cost for customers. These registration incentives can be seen as a form of discount that benefits customers.

The Triton pickup model has the second biggest price drop after the Pajero Sport, with versions of the Mitsubishi Triton being reduced by 135 million VND in July. Other models such as the Xpander and Attrage receive 100% support for registration fees, resulting in tens of millions of VND reduction in rolling costs.

The locally assembled Outlander model is also eligible for additional support, with an extra 50% reduction in the registration fee on top of the government’s incentives. This means that customers can enjoy a 100% reduction in the registration fee for the Outlander.

For the upcoming XFC model, customers who make a deposit will receive an additional 2 years of maintenance or 40,000 km, whichever comes first. Mitsubishi models are also offered with additional perks such as cash discounts, registration fee incentives, physical insurance, shark fin antennas, and 360-degree cameras, depending on the vehicle.

While the registration fee incentives for assembled cars began on July 1, Mitsubishi and other companies mainly selling imported cars, such as Volkswagen, Subaru, and Nissan, face competitive pressure from rivals selling locally assembled cars. Cash discounts or partial/full registration fee support are common strategies employed by these firms to attract customers.

For manufacturers with locally assembled products, promotions have been scaled back since the beginning of July. However, due to the quiet market, the discounts are not as significant as in previous years, and registration fee incentives are still being offered to encourage sales.
