Like all segments in the market, the C-size crossover group also faces a sharp decline in demand after nearly first half of 2023. The interest ranking of all models has also not changed, except the Ford Territory.

Territory is domestically assembled and launched in October 2022. Having an elaborate appearance with many curves, trendy eye-style headlights, the Ford model creates a “new spice” in the market, besides the lowest selling price in the segment.

In May, Ford Territory sold just 416 vehicles, the lowest since the start of 2023 but still second in the segment, behind the CX-2023. Cumulatively, Territory sold a total of 2,852 vehicles, behind the leader Mazda CX-5 with 4,177 vehicles sold. The American model occupies the second place, which is usually the competition of Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson.

CR-V reached 1,495 units sold after 5 months, a decrease by 73% compared to the same period last year. The Japanese model is at the end of the product life cycle, the supply is gradually decreasing, the company and dealers are actively promoting with a reduction of more than 100 million VND to clear the way for the new generation to launch at the end of 2023. Meanwhile the Hyundai Tucson also has a sharp drop in sales, at rate of 66 percent, equivalent to 1,157 units sold.

Kia Sportage is a rookie of the same segment as Ford Territory, but sales of these two models are opposite. Sportage flattened in the last group Outlander when selling less than 1,200 cars after 5 months. Mitsubishi’s model was even smaller, selling just 749 vehicles.

In terms of the whole segment, the first 5 months of 2023 will sell 11,592 vehicles, down 37% over the same period, although compared to the number of products, it is more (at the beginning of last year there were no Sportage and Territory).

Currently, all models in the segment with announced sales are assembled domestically. In the first phase of 2022, there are preferential registration fees for domestic vehicles, thus the shopping demand of people therefore increases. A similar period of 2023 without this policy, plus a generally quiet market, caused sales to plummet.

The segment also has imported models such as Subaru Forester, MG HS, Volkswagen Tiguan, Peugeot 3008… But the distributor does not publish sales figures.
