In Vietnam, Road Glide Special and Street Glide Special are the first two products of HD sells special color scheme Apex Factory Custom Paint for VND 1.219 billion, imported from Thailand. Counting only the paint color, the value is about 80 million VND, equivalent to a high-end Honda SH 125i.

On these two American bagger models, the motif on the fuel tank is inspired by the gas tank shape of the flat track XR-750. Each graphic has a shadow effect with the Bar & Shield logo of Harley-Davidson. With a decorated windshield, when combined with the fuel tank, it will form an S shape, symbolizing speed.

Based on the original Vivid Black paint, the company adds patches of Gauntlet Gray, surrounded by Jet Fire Orange borders, which is the original paint color of the past XR-750 model. In addition to the different paint colors, the design and features are similar to the standard version. The engines remain the Milwaukee-Eight 114, with a capacity of 1,868 cc, producing 93 horsepower and 158 Nm.

With massive design, priced at billions of VND, Road Glide Special and Street Glide Special in Apex colorway are mainly for collectors with passion for the history of Harley-Davidson, specifically, the legendary racing car model XR- 750.

Harley-Davidson XR-750 was built by the American motorcycle company in 1970 to participate in the Grand National Championships racing tournament organized by the American Motorcyclist Association. It was originally for dirt racing (flat track) but later got an asphalt variant called XRTT.

From 1972 to 2008, motorcyclists on the XR-750 won 28 championships out of 37 races, more than any other model. The image of the Harley-Davidson racing model was even more famous when it is used by American stunter, Evel Knievel for most of his career. One of his hits was a performance in front of nearly 90,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium, England, in May 1975.

Evel Knievel rode on a Harley-Davidson XR-750, leaping from the top of an artificial ramp to create the momentum to jump over 13 adjacent buses. The imperfect landing caused Evel Knievel to jump out of the bike and roll dozens of meters. The enthusiasm of the crowd at Wembley in May 1975 did not subside. They had just witnessed one of the craziest motorcycle shows in the world.

Evel Knievel suffered injuries all over his body, and the worst was a broken pelvis. But in return, the name of the American stunter continues to fly high. Evel was likened to a death challenger, a daredevil watched by millions in the US and worldwide. The XR-750 motorcycle model with Evel’s suit is currently kept at the National Museum of American History and is considered one of the largest cultural and entertainment icons of America.
