Honda CBR500R and CB500X with USD forks to arrive in Vietnam

The Honda product line of 500cc-motorbikes have been upgraded their suspension system, brakes, and rear grip to provide enhanced operational capabilities.

Honda has upgraded its 500cc motorcycle lineup including CBR500R, CB500X, and CB500F for 2022. Accordingly, the 2022 version of these models will all have upgrades in the suspension system with USD front fork to enhance riding experience. Before officially launching in Vietnam, the new version of the Honda 500cc series was launched in Thailand and most recently in Malaysia.

According to the announcement, Honda will currently only launch the new CBR500R and CB500X for the Malaysian market. The most valuable upgrade the 41mm Showa SSF-BP upside-down adjustable front fork with. Meanwhile, the rear shock absorber is a single cylinder spring with 5-level adjustment. The rear of the bike is now lighter and comes with redesigned equipment.

In addition to the new suspension system, the brakes are also upgraded with 296mm double discs in front. CBR500R version will use Nissin 2-piston radial brakes, while the CB500X uses traditional Nissin catchers with dual-channel ABS.

In terms of power, the Honda 500cc series is equipped with a 471cc double cylinder engine, liquid-cooled. This is capable of producing 49.75 horsepower at 8,500 rpm, and maximum torque of 44.7 Nm at 7,000 rpm. It is known that Honda has improved this engine to meet Euro 5 emission standards, accompanied by a 6-speed manual gearbox and a supporting slip-on clutch.

On the CBR500R, the model uses a 17.1-liter fuel tank while the CB500X has a 17.5-liter fuel tank. Specifications published by Honda show that the Honda CBR500R has a weight of 192 kg, while the CB500X weighs 199kg, these two models have a saddle height of 785mm and 830mm, respectively.

The difference in saddle height is because the CBR500R has a sportbike design, using a 17-inch cast rim. On the other hand, CB500X is an Adventure with a long travel fork and a set of 19inch/17inch cast rims for the front and rear tires respectively.

New color options on CB500X include Red, Black and Blue, while CBR500R 2022 in Malaysia will have only 1 color option, Red. It is expected that the upgraded version of the Honda 500cc 2022 will soon be launched in the Vietnamese market in the next few months.
