To make the business strategy and vehicle electrification plan become effective, some prominent models will be discontinued after 2023.
Mazda CX-9
Due to the CX-90’s distribution, Mazda will stop selling the CX-9 at the end of this year. This model was first launched in 2016, competing directly with Kia Telluride, Honda Pilot. CX-9 attracts customers by its practicality, performance, and high-end design that suits families. After achieving expected sales for many years, the manufacturer decides to “kill” this model.
Nissan Maxima
Currently, Nissan has direction to manufacture electric vehicles and no longer focuses on sedans. The D-class sedan Nissan Maxima has been stopped manufacturing. Sales of this product have declined sharply in recent times due to the low demand for sedans. Therefore, the Nissan Maxima has to “say goodbye” to the market after 41 years.
McLaren 720S
The McLaren 720S supercar is officially discontinued both the Coupe and Spider variants. According to the automaker, vehicles of the 720S 2023 version left factory late last year. Replacement for the 720S supercar is the 750S, which was also introduced recently. Basically, the 750S resembles an upgraded 720S, but with several highlight changes.
Chrysler 300
One of Chrysler’s oldest products will also be discontinued after 2023. The limited-edition V300-powered Chrysler 8C was the last variant of this product line.
The second-generation Chrysler 300 was launched in 2011. During operation, this product frequently encounters serious problems. Therefore, in the direction of electrification, the manufacturer decides to remove this product.
Audi R8 and Audi TT
In 2023, the German manufacturer introduced two limited editions of the Audi R2 and Audi TT on both Coupe and convertible variants. They are officially named the Audi R8 GT 2023 and Audi TT RS Heritage Edition. Notably, this is also the last version of these two sports cars.
The Audi TT and Audi R8 will be discontinued in 2024 since Audi are moving to develop high-performance electric sports cars.
Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV
Although launched recently, the Bolt EV/EU has continuously under multiple recall campaigns due to the risk of fire and explosion. As a result, the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV hatchbacks will be officially “killed” at the end of 2023.
General Motors, which owns Chevrolet, will move into developing new electric vehicles, including the $30,000 Equinox EV. In addition, the manufacturer will introduce several other new electric models, inheriting the Ultium platform of the Bolt EV and EUV.
Jeep Cherokee
Jeep plans to replace the Cherokee with a new product. The last Jeep Cherokee left factory in Belvidere, USA at the end of February 2023. Specifically, this factory will also be closed later. After 49 years, the Jeep Cherokee is officially discontinued.
