A representative of the Japanese company said that by the end of May, 80,000 Xpanders had been delivered to Vietnamese customers. Thus, since its launch on August 8th, 2018, it has taken 4 years and 10 months for the MPV model to reach this sales threshold, which is a rarity in the Vietnamese market.

With this sales rate, on average, Mitsubishi delivers nearly 1,400 vehicles per month. In the Vietnamese market, the milestone of over 1,000 vehicles per month is the place for the top 10 best sellers. In fact, since its appearance, except for 2018 selling for only 4 months, Xpander has steadily been in the top 10 every year. Specifically:

Year Sales (units) Market Position
2019 20.098 2
2020 16.844 5
2021 13.616 7
2022 21.983 3

Before 2018, the MPV segment has the dominant Innova with a mid-range price of 800-900 million VND, although there has lower price car such as Kia Carens, Chevrolet Orlando, all of them could not affect Toyota’s models. But since that year’s August, Xpander appeared and changed the game. Users have more clearly defined the concept of small MPV, and since then, Mitsubishi’s model has become the name of the segment.

In the past few years, a number of new models have appeared, but the Xpander has remained the best-selling car in the segment for five consecutive years.

The success of Xpander is also reflected in the awards that this model has achieved, with 36 awards from domestic and foreign press units. Xpander is also the car that won the MPV of the year, consecutively at the 2021 and 2022 Car Awards, organized by VnExpress .

Xpander MPV and Cross versions are popular with users because of its modern and quite youthful design, 5 + 2 interior is adequate for both family and service needs, the number of features is also diverse. The car has the largest ground clearance in the segment, a new upgraded suspension system for better driving feeling, fuel consumption and price are also reasonable.

As sales grew rapidly, the Japanese automaker simultaneously upgraded its sales and after-sales service systems to be able to serve customers more standardly. The company currently has 52 distributors in 39 provinces and cities nationwide with better facilities and identity than before.

Celebrating the 5th anniversary of Xpander’s presence in Vietnam, Mitsubishi applies a gratitude program with a 20% discount on maintenance spare parts and free vehicle inspection for two months, from June 8th to August 8th. Currently, the car is priced at 555 – 658 million VND for 3 versions of MPV and 698 million for Cross version.
