Yamaha R15 V4 release time in Vietnam

27 Oct 2021

It is possible that the Yamaha R15 V4 will be introduced to Vietnamese customers in 2022, accompanied by a new generation Yamaha MT-03 naked bike model.

Yamaha R15 is a small sports clutch that is not only popular with the Vietnamese, but also with many other Asian markets. In September, Yamaha officially launched a completely new generation of R15, also known as Yamaha R15 V4, with a comprehensive upgrade in appearance and equipment.

After a month of launch in India, Yamaha R15 V4 has immediately become Yamaha’s best-selling model. Accordingly, Yamaha India has sold 11,792 units of this model, 2 times higher than the previous R15 sales in 2020.

Currently, the R15 model in Vietnam is still the old generation V3. This is also being loved by younger owners thanks to its compact, sporty design, and reasonable price. Now that the V4 model has emerged, when can we expect it in the domestic market?

Yamaha Vietnam has always been rather secretive in bringing new models to the country. Hence, the company did not reveal any information about Yamaha R15 V4 being imported. However, in terms of market overview, Yamaha R15 V3 is also a popular clutch bike model, favored by many young Vietnamese customers, so it is likely that Yamaha will continue to distribute the new generation of R15 V4 to meet the needs of the market.

However, to clear the way for Yamaha’s new model, perhaps, Yamaha first needs to sell the remaining number of Yamaha R15 V3 in the domestic market. This discharge process will probably take longer than expected, so it is unlikely that the Yamaha R15 V4 will return to Vietnam at the end of this year. In addition, the current one in Vietnam is currently imported from Indonesia, so we have to wait until Yamaha Indonesia officially launches and produces this model before Vietnamese customers can expect the appearance of this model in Vietnam.

In addition to the Yamaha R15 V4, there is still another new generation model that has not been brought back by Yamaha Vietnam, which is the Yamaha MT-03 launched in Europe in October 2019, and Asia in October 2020 (MT-25). It is likely that Yamaha will simultaneously launch two new models of the new generation R15 V4 and MT-03 for Vietnamese customers in the upcoming 2022.

Regarding the R15 V4, Yamaha has completely improved the design and equipment. Specifically, the bike is inspired by Yamaha R7, bringing the appearance of a sportbike with a MotoGP racing style with soft and smooth body lines. Prominent on the front of the bike is the LED projector headlight placed in the center of the mask. On both sides are LED positioning lights with eye-catching shapes.

The rear of the bike still has the same simple design as R7 with its plastic cover forming a beautiful air outlet. Rear lights are arranged vertically and employ LED technology. The exhaust system seems to be shortened more neatly, and uses a new insulation cover.

The most noticeable upgrade on the Yamaha R15 V4 2022 is the dual-channel ABS, followed by Traction Control and the QuickShift. Furthermore, the dashboard is also integrated with Bluetooth connectivity to smartphones, which proves rather convenient.
