Volkswagen T-class for Vietnam will be imported CBU from India and uses 1.0L turbocharger.
Volkswagen T-Cross is an urban SUV model that was first introduced in October 2018. Right from the time of launch, Volkswagen has affirmed that the T-Cross is one for the global market. Since then, this B-size SUV has been distributed in many markets around the world, including Southeast Asia such as Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
Next month, Volkswagen T-Cross will officially launch in Vietnam as a new competitor for Kia Seltos, Peugeot 2008, Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross, and MG ZS. It is known that said model for the Vietnamese market is a CBU imported car from India. In the Indian market, this B-sized SUV is known as Volkswagen Taigun.
In Vietnam, Volkswagen T-Cross will be equipped with a turbocharged fuel engine, 1.0L capacity, producing a maximum capacity of 115 horsepower and maximum torque of 178 Nm. Power is transmitted to the wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Thus, Volkswagen T-Cross in Vietnam does not have a 6-speed manual transmission like Taigun in India. In addition, that in India also has another engine option: a 1.5L petrol engine with a maximum capacity of 150 horsepower and maximum torque of 250 Nm. This 1.5L engine combines with 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
There is currently no information about equipment of Volkswagen T-Cross in Vietnam. For reference, this B-class SUV in India is equipped with LED headlights, front fog lights and tail lights. In addition, there are silver underbody panels under the front/rear bumpers, rearview mirrors with integrated turn signals, 17-inch alloy wheels in 2 colors, and shark fin antenna.
Inside the Volkswagen T-Cross, there are notable equipment such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, a digital instrument panel with an 8-inch screen, electric sunroof, 6-speaker sound system, front seat cooling feature, interior lighting system, wireless smartphone charger, and steering wheel with function keys. Furthermore, Volkswagen T-Cross in India also has safety equipment such as 6 airbags, reverse camera, parking sensors, support system for hill start, electronic balance system, ABS, and EBD.
Volkswagen T-Cross was originally developed on the basis of the MQB A0 IN platform like Skoda Kushaq. This is the platform for the Volkswagen Group’s emerging-market models. The car has a length of only 4,110 mm, a height of 1,580 mm and a wheelbase of 2,550 mm.
Although positioned in the B-size SUV segment, Volkswagen T-Cross is quite inferior in size compared to rivals such as Kia Seltos or Toyota Corolla Cross. More specifically, the size of the Volkswagen T-Cross is only slightly larger than that of A-class SUVs such as Kia Sonet and Toyota Raize.
Unfortunately, the price of the Volkswagen T-Cross has not been revealed. We are only given that this model in Vietnam will have 2 versions: Elegance and Luxury. In India, the 2 versions using 1.0L petrol engine, automatic transmission of this model are priced at 1,409,900 Rupees (about VND 421 million) and 1,590,900 Rupees (VND 475 million).
