The abandonment of the 2.0L engine may partly affect sales of Mazda3 in the near future.

Mazda3 bỏ động cơ 2.0L ở Việt Nam

With a beautiful design, fully equipped and with 2 engine options, Mazda3 is known to be a popular C-class car in Vietnam. However, recently, on the brand’s local website, Mazda3 has stopped selling the 2.0L engine option. This applies to both sedan and hatchback (Sport) versions of Mazda3 in Vietnam.

Consequently, Mazda3 now only offers a 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated, 1.5L petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum capacity of 110 horsepower and maximum torque of 146 Nm, combined with an automatic transmission. Meanwhile, Mazda3’s late 2.0L engine is more powerful with a maximum capacity of 153 horsepower and maximum torque of 200 Nm. After this update, Mazda3 will lose its competitive advantage in power compared to competitors in the same segment such as Honda Civic (176 hp, 240 Nm), Toyota Corolla Altis (97 – 138 hp), 142 – 172 Nm), Hyundai Elantra and Kia K3 (126 – 201 hp, 155 – 265 Nm).

However, this also reduced the highest price of Mazda3 to VND 789 million. Specifically, the Mazda3 sedan version is priced from VND 669 to VND 789 million. The corresponding figure of the Sport version is 739 – 789 million VND.

Spending such money, Vietnamese customers will receive a well-equipped C-class car. Outside, this model is equipped with LED headlights with automatic on/off, projector angle balance, LED daytime running lights, electric / power folding rearview mirrors, automatic rain wipers, LED rear lights, and sunroof.

Inside the car, Mazda3 comes with leather furniture, electric driver’s seat, Mazda Connect infotainment system with 8.8-inch central screen, 8-speaker audio system, rear gearshifts behind the steering wheel, electronic handbrake, automatic temporary brake hold, push button start, automatic air conditioning with rear seat vents, automatic anti-glare central rearview mirror, and HUD speed display.

In the first 7 months of this year, a total of 5,723 Mazda3 units were sold in the Vietnamese market. With this result, Mazda3 is the second best-selling model in the segment, just behind Kia K3 (7,930 cars). The abandonment of the 2.0L engine may partly affect the sales of Mazda3 in the near future.
