The situation of Honda scooters in short supply and having prices has caused many to find new directions by looking into the second-hand market or switching to other brands. Hence, some Yamaha scooter models began to suffer from a shortage of goods and raised prices.

Surveys at some Yamaha motorcycle shops show that a series of scooter models for women such as Janus or Grande are priced much higher than the company’s proposed level. Specifically, the Janus scooter, Vision’s rival, is currently very scarce. There are not enough colors available. Moreover, the price of each is up to 40.4 million VND, higher than the listed price by 8.4 million VND. Meanwhile, the Yamaha Grande scooter model is still in stock, but the quantity is limited. The bike is offered for sale at VND 52.3 million for the Standard version, and VND 56.1 million for the Limited version.

The shortage situation occurs at most dealers in big cities, the price level also falls between 6.5 and 8.4 million VND, depending on the model, version, and dealer. However, this pricing situation only happens at private dealers. At genuine Yamaha Town dealers, Janus, and Grande prices are still being sold at the suggested price.

When asked about the shortage of goods, the sales staff of Yamaha Town said that the main reason was a spare parts crisis, making the factory unable to guarantee production output.

In addition to two female scooter models, Janus and Grande, which are being overpriced, two male-oriented scooter models, NVX 155 and FreeGo, are still being sold at the company’s listed price. Some dealers have price rises that are only in the range of 500,000 – 1,000,000 VND compared to the proposed level.
