Exclusive long wheelbase for the billion-people market, upgraded hybrid technology, new infotainment system.

BMW has introduced the 2024 X5 Li, an extended wheelbase variant of its fourth-generation X5, codenamed G18. This model combines styling elements from the X5 M Sport (G05) with innovative enhancements. Notable exterior features include redesigned headlights that are slightly narrower and equipped with new daytime running lights. The taillights are now LED with a distinctive dual L-shaped configuration forming an X-shaped pattern. Designed for the Chinese market, the X5 Li comes with the standard M Sport package, featuring more aggressive front and rear bumpers.

Inside, the 2024 X5 Li boasts an upgraded interior with a BMW curved screen that includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a new 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. The conventional gear lever has been replaced by a toggle-like switch placed next to the iDrive control knob. With an extended wheelbase of 3,105 mm, the X5 Li provides more spacious legroom, comparable to the BMW X7. Additionally, the increased height and larger rear door make passenger entry and exit more convenient.

The X5 Li offers two upgraded powertrain options, both equipped with mild hybrid technology. The xDrive30Li is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine generating 255 horsepower and a peak torque of 400 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 222 km/h. The xDrive40Li is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 375 horsepower and an impressive 520 Nm of torque. This version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and has a maximum speed of 250 km/h. Both powertrains utilize an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and the xDrive all-wheel drive system.

Manufactured by the BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture at the Dadong factory in Shenyang, China, the BMW X5 Li 2024 will be available for purchase in China starting September. The pricing ranges from $85,700 to $111,500 USD, reflecting BMW’s ongoing commitment to innovation and catering to the preferences of the Chinese market.
