Desipte having a pretty design and affordable price, the BYD Destroyer 05’s hybrid powertrain proves somewhat underpowered.

Within the framework of the ongoing Guangzhou Motor Show 2021, Chinese electric car brand BYD has brought a completely new model called Destroyer 05. This is a C-sized sedan, which retails for about 120,000 – 150,000 yuan (equivalent to 425 – 532 million VND). Although, the manufacturer has not disclosed the price and specific market launch time.

In terms of appearance, the Destroyer 05 stands out with a completely new design language, different from the design style of BYD’s existing Dynasty and E models. Specifically, the new car has a large polygonal front grille design, new BYD LOGO, and large vertical air intakes on the sides. All of which contribute to making the car sporty, dynamic, and leave a good first impression.

As for the rear, everything seems simpler than the front. The long bar-shaped taillights combined with the words “Build Your Dream” (abbreviated to “BYD”) at the top. Meanwhile, its trunk lid is relatively small. Of course, the most eye-catching feature of the car is the “Destroyer 05” logo on the bottom right, which also shows that this is the final identity of this model.

In terms of equipment, according to previously announced information, the new car will be offered with a variety of grilles, front radar, sunroof, various wheel designs, side window decorations, camera system, and more.

As for body dimensions, the length, width, and height of BYD Destroyer 05 are 4,780 mm, 1,837 mm, 1,495 mm, respectively, while the wheelbase is 2,718 mm long. In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a 1.5-liter DM-i plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a maximum capacity of 110 horsepower, equivalent to the BYD Qin Plus DM-i model. This number seems weak, but because it is a plug-in hybrid system, it promises to bring better fuel economy than traditional petrol/diesel cars.
