CX-60 – Mazda’s latest product

This is Mazda’s very first model to employ PHEV with new foundations and engine.

Mazda CX-60 PHEV is a new product for the European, Japanese, and Australian markets. As the name suggests, the CX-60 is larger and more advanced in equipment than the CX-50 for the US market, launched in November 2021.

The model is a mid-size SUV. There are two rows of seats, dimensions consist of a length of 4,745 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, a height of 1,680 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,870 mm. Overall, the CX-60 looks similar to the CX-50, but the details are different.

Kodo – Soul of Motion design language makes strong statements with prominent veins in the front and back. The main attraction at the front of the car is the L-shaped headlights, a combination between normal and daytime headlights. There are 8 colors of the car to choose from, and 18- or 20-inch rims.

The interior includes a range of unique features. Digital clock with TFT-LCD display, a 12.3-inch information display, and a HUD display 3 times the size of the CX-30. The personalization system for the driver includes automatic driving position adjustment. This system uses a camera to detect the driver’s eye position and input height data, then automatically adjusts the seats, steering wheel, HUD display, and rearview mirror into the appropriate positions.

Storage space is 570 liters if the rear seats are used and will increase to 1,148 liters if the rear seats are folded flat.

The new model also uses the company’s new platform, with the engine placed vertically. In Europe, there will be 3 engine options.

The first is a plug-in-hybrid system that combines a 2.5-liter petrol engine at 189 HP with a 134 HP electric motor. The total capacity of the car is 323 HP and 500 Nm of torque. Mazda states the car can run up to 62 km in electric mode only using a 17.8 kWh battery pack. An eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive are standard. Driving modes include Normal, Sport, Off-Road, Towing, and EV. The CX-60 PHEV has a towing capacity of 2,500 kg.

CX-60 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h. In full electric mode, the car has a range of 60 km and the battery is fully charged in 4 hours through a regular AC charging port.

The second option is a 3-liter, in-line 6-cylinder engine, e-Skyactiv X with 48 V mild-hybrid support;

The final version is a 3.3-liter, in-line 6-cylinder, e- Skyactive D with the same mild-hybrid system. Details of the two engines have not been announced.

In the UK, the CX-60 starts at $57,900 for the Exclusive-Line, while the Homura and Takumi start at $61,500 and $63,300, respectively. Also in Europe, a three-row version with seven seats of the CX-60 will be available later and will be called the CX-80. In the US, customers have options between CX-70 and CX-90.
