Ferrari Purosangue – the Italian brand’s pioneer SUV

Super SUV Ferrari Purosangue carries the design aesthetics of the SF90 Stradale and 296 GTB supercars. The Purosangue engine may also be inherited from these two supercars.

Ferrari has just posted a new image revealing its first super SUV model called Purosangue, expected to be officially launched later this year. The image posted by Ferrari only shows the front of the car, but it is enough for viewers to see a part of the overall design.

From the image above, it can be immediately confirmed that the Purosangue is Ferrari’s tallest model with high ground clearance. The air intakes above the large shock absorbers and the rather slim grille connect the two LED headlights of the bike. In which, the super-slim grille design is said to be inspired by SF90 supercar, combined with a new steering wheel and rough lines in the fenders.

Previously, many leaked images showed quite fully the design of the entire body. Notable features of the car include wheel arches and black underbody trim, 5-spoke rims, sculpted styling lines and aerodynamic roof. The rear has a bunker design combined with a taillight cluster quite similar to the 296 GTB supercar, accompanied by an air outlet and a pair of dual exhaust pipes located in the rear spoiler.

Currently, Ferrari has not revealed any information about the performance parameters of the Purosangue super SUV, but many rumors on specialized forums and websites have made some predictions about the car’s power. In particular, the Ferrari Purosangue is likely to use the engine of the 296 GTB. It is known that Ferrari’s latest Supercar is equipped with a hybrid powertrain including a 2.9L V6 petrol engine and an electric motor, bringing a total capacity of 819 horsepower. Another engine option is the hybrid powertrain with the twin-turbo V8 petrol engine of the SF90 Stradale supercar, producing a total capacity of 1,000 horsepower.

However, it seems that the power of the two engines is still a bit redundant compared to the needs of an SUV. Therefore, it is possible that Ferrari will only equip the Purosangue with a gasoline engine of one of the two engines and add a 4-wheel drive system. In addition, some sources also believe that the car will be equipped with a 6.5L V12 engine from the 812 Superfast / Competizione at 819 horsepower.

It is expected that Ferrari Purosangue will be put into production in 2022, delivered in early 2023, and compete with Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX707.
