Ford’s new crossover model has been tested near a factory in Hai Duong, expected to be launched in September-October, priced at 850 million to 1.1 billion VND.
From the outside, the Territory looks more dignified than the Indian and Chinese versions. However, the actual size of the version in Vietnam is unknown. From photos, the front grille is larger, while the front and rear light clusters are also flattened to a larger size.
The interior has not been revealed. According to dealers, the car will have an electronic handbrake and gear lever. The dashboard is electric, while central screen is rather large. The car is expected to have 4 versions, with prices ranging from 850 million to 1.1 billion VND. It is possible that the car will have an option of turbocharged 1.5 engine configuration, producing 141 horsepower, 225 Nm of torque, which comes with a 6-speed gearbox.
If its size is equivalent to a C-class model, Territory will replace Escape to compete directly with Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, or Honda CR-V. Currently, it is unclear whether the car has 5 or 7 seats. It is expected to launch in September or October this year. The dealer is not yet accepting deposits for this model.
Ford Vietnam originally planned to launch Escape in 2020-2021 to compete in the C segment, but due to Covid affecting the production plan, the car also reached the end of its product life, so this plan was cancelled. Currently, Ford only assembles the Ranger and the Transit commercial vehicle. Two SUV models of Everest and Explorer are imported from Thailand.
