Starting 1/1/2022, Vietnam Post will officially use Honda Benly e electric scooters supplied by Honda Vietnam for postal delivery.
Recently, Honda Vietnam and Vietnam Post officially signed an announcement for the pilot implementation of electric motorbikes for delivery. In which, Honda will provide electric motorcycle units and battery exchange models to the Post Office.
From January 1, 2022, the staff of Vietnam Post Corporation will use the Honda Benly e to deliver letters and parcels in Hanoi city. It is known that the Vietnam Post will rent 70 of these electric motorbike units to serve the delivery. Meanwhile, Honda Vietnam will standardize batteries and build a quick battery exchange infrastructure for postmen.
According to information published by Honda Vietnam, Benly e is the electric version of the Honda Benly delivery scooter in Japan. Benly and Benly e are both targeted at corporate customers, mainly companies providing delivery services.
Unlike Benly scooters, Benly e runs entirely on electricity thanks to an electric motor with a capacity of 5.6 horsepower at 3,900 rpm and a maximum torque of 15 Nm at 1,500 rpm. Powering the motor is a removable 50.4V dual li-ion battery pack for easy battery replacement. In addition, the car can also be recharged via an external removable charger with a full charge time of 4 hours.
Other notable equipment on the motorbike model is the hexagonal LED headlights placed on the front fender. Above the headlights is a sub-cart, combined with a large rear rack to bring a maximum parcel load of up to 60 kg.
The height of Honda Benly e is quite low, so it can be suitable for most postal workers. In addition, 70 units supplied to Vietnam Post are also affixed with the same company’s signature color: orange. There are also hand guards and reverse gear so that the driver can reverse the car easily in tight spaces.
