Honda BR-V 2022 revealed exterior design, preparing to compete with Mitsubishi Xpander

01 Jul 2021

True to previous rumors, the Honda BR-V 2022 is the commercial version of the N7X concept car that was launched in May in Indonesia.

In May this year, Honda introduced a new concept car called N7X. As expected, the Honda N7X is a preview image of the new generation BR-V 7-seat SUV hybrid MPV. This was proven when the images of the Honda BR-V 2022 were leaked online.

These images appear in Honda’s industrial design registration document in Indonesia. Through these images, it can be seen that the Honda BR-V 2022 has a design that is quite loyal to the N7X.

Specifically, the new generation Honda BR-V is also equipped with a large grille with 3 horizontal spokes, below the manufacturer’s logo. In addition, on the top of the grille, there is also a thick chrome brace, deeply embedded in the smooth headlights on the sides.

In addition, inside the headlight cluster, there is an “L”-shaped daytime positioning LED strip like the new generation Honda Civic. It is expected that this will be the typical design of new Honda models.

However, unlike the N7X, the Honda BR-V 2022 will not be equipped with horizontal LED front fog lights on the front bumper. Instead, this MPV hybrid SUV model uses a conventional circular front fog lamp, located in a black recess.

Next is the large central air vent, with a silver “U” shaped border below. In addition, the Honda BR-V 2022 is also equipped with a stronger ribbed bonnet than the old generation.

On the side, the Honda BR-V 2022 is applied a simpler design style with prominent ribbed lines, extending from the headlights to the taillights. In addition, there is a black plastic body brace in the SUV style even though the Honda BR-V is an MPV. Particularly, the exterior rearview mirror has been moved to the door to increase visibility for occupants. In particular, in the high-end version, the rearview mirror also comes with a side camera of the Honda LaneWatch system.

Rounding the back, we will encounter a taillight cluster with a design similar to Honda City 2021 but not connected by a brace in the middle. Besides, there is a simple trunk door, reflective lights located on the rear bumper and fake silver underbody panels.

Unfortunately, there is currently no image of the interior of the Honda BR-V 2022. Meanwhile, the Honda N7X is equipped with a neatly designed dashboard with integrated central screen. Besides, there is a new steering wheel and 2 rectangular air vents at the 2 corners of the dashboard.

According to leaked information, the Honda BR-V 2022 will be equipped with a 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT continuously variable transmission. In the future, Honda BR-V is likely to have more hybrid versions like the new generation HR-V and Civic.

In the Indonesian market, Honda BR-V 2022 is expected to have 4 equipment versions, including S, E, Prestige and Prestige HS. The S version only uses a 6-speed manual transmission while the two most advanced versions are only equipped with a CVT gearbox. In addition, the Prestige HS is said to come with the Honda Sensing safety system.

The price of the Honda BR-V 2022 in Indonesia is rumored to range from 180 – 217 million Rupiah (about 314 – 378 million VND). It is not clear after Indonesia, whether this MPV hybrid SUV will be sold in Vietnam or not. In 2019, there were rumors that the Honda BR-V would be genuine distribution in Vietnam, but so far it has not come true.

When available on the market, Honda BR-V will compete with rivals such as Toyota Rush, Mitsubishi Xpander and Suzuki Ertiga.
