Honda Vietnam (HVN) has teased the arrival of the new Honda City model in the Vietnamese market. HVN promises valuable upgrades that will provide a sportier and safer experience for users. The 5th generation Honda City, introduced in Vietnam in December 2020, has been highly successful, consistently ranking among the “Top 3 best-selling cars” in the B-segment and receiving numerous “Car of the Year” awards.

The upgraded Honda City is set to be introduced to Vietnamese users on July 4, 2023. HVN dealers are currently accepting deposits for the Honda City 2023 model, which will be available in three versions: L, G, and RS. The vehicles will continue to be assembled domestically, and the City 2023 will come equipped with the advanced safety package Honda Sensing.

The Honda City Facelift 2023 was first unveiled in early March 2023 with several notable upgrades. The exterior features a slimmer grille with a chrome bar and a new honeycomb motif. The front bumper has been redesigned, and a black border connects the fog lamp sockets with the lower air intake. The LED headlight cluster remains the same, but the City 2023 receives new alloy wheels. At the rear, the bumper has been upgraded with a black diffuser detail, and the reflectors have been repositioned, along with a small integrated spoiler on the trunk lid.

In the Indian market, the Honda City 2023 is offered with a new exterior paint color called Obsidian Blue Pearl, in addition to the existing color options.

Inside the cabin, there are subtle changes to the dashboard and control knobs. The color schemes include beige and black for petrol versions and black and ivory for hybrid versions. Depending on the version, the car’s cabin features a 7-inch color TFT screen for the instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless, 6 airbags, sensor wipers, interior lighting, wireless charging, 8 speakers, automatic air conditioning with a PM2.5 fine dust filter, rear seat vents, keyless entry and start, a power sunroof, a mechanical rear sunshade, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

In terms of powertrain, the 1.5L i-DTEC turbocharged diesel engine has been discontinued, leaving only the 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine option. It delivers 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. The SV version offers a 6-speed manual transmission, while the V, VX, and ZX versions come with the option of a CVT gearbox.

The City Hybrid 2023 variant is equipped with a combination of the Atkinson 1.5L i-VTEC DOHC gasoline engine, generating 98 PS and 127 Nm of torque. This engine acts as a generator to charge the hybrid battery pack, which in turn powers an electric motor attached to the wheels, producing 109 PS and 253 Nm of torque. The City Hybrid has a combined output of 126 PS. Additionally, the City Hybrid features an electronic handbrake system and rear disc brakes, replacing the mechanical handbrake and rear drum brakes found in the regular versions.
