Honda Thailand is set to unveil the upgraded version of the City at the Bangkok auto show on July 5. Thailand will be the first country in Southeast Asia to receive the 5th generation City, following its debut in India in March.

Similar to the Indian version, the 2023 City features a honeycomb grille, a slimmer chrome horizontal bar at the front, redesigned fog lamp sockets, and a black diffuser-like design at the rear. The reflectors have been repositioned, and there is a sleek spoiler on the trunk lid. The RS version will come with 16-inch alloy rims.

In Thailand, the City 2023 will be available in two engine options. The first is a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine generating 121 horsepower and 173 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT gearbox and front-wheel drive. The second option is the e:HEV hybrid variant, equipped with an electric motor producing 107 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque to power the front wheels. It features a lithium-ion battery charged by a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine with 97 horsepower and 127 Nm of torque, assisted by an electric motor acting as a starter generator. The hybrid version comes with an E-CVT gearbox.

According to Headlightmag, the petrol engine version of the City will include the Honda Sensing safety package, previously only available on the e:HEV RS version. The Honda Sensing system offers features such as collision mitigation braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.

After its launch in Thailand, the Honda City 2023 will be introduced in other Southeast Asian markets, including Malaysia and Vietnam. Vietnamese Honda dealers have already started accepting deposits for the upgraded Honda City 2023 since March, with expected delivery in the early third quarter.

In Vietnam, Honda Sensing is available on all other Honda models sold, such as the HR-V, Civic, Accord, and CR-V. The current version of the City is domestically assembled and priced at 529-599 million VND, competing with its main rivals, the Toyota Vios (489-641 million VND) and Hyundai Accent (426-542 million VND). Despite a decrease in overall market sales in May, the City’s sales remained higher than those of its two competitors.
