Depending on version, Honda SH is currently being sold at 21 – 33 million VND higher than the initial listed price.

According to a survey at some dealers, the price of the new Winner X clutch is currently 3 to 4.5 million VND lower than the company’s proposed price, thereby presenting customers who want to buy a unit with better opportunity. However, this does not happen with other Honda models.

Accordingly, a series of models such as Vision, Lead, SH, or even Uwave Alpha all have actual prices at dealers that are much higher than the listed retail prices. Specifically, the high-end scooter SH 150i ABS is being offered for sale at VND 118 million, an increase of VND 12 million compared to the previous month, and a difference of over 21 million VND compared to the proposed price.

In addition, the 125 ABS version of Honda SH is being on sale for 113 million VND, an increase of nearly 17 million VND compared to after Tet, and a difference of 33.2 million VND compared to the listed price.

Not only SH, another popular Honda scooter model, Vision, is also being dizzyingly expensive. Standard Vision at the dealer is currently priced at 34.5 million VND, a difference of nearly 5 million VND compared to the listed price; while the Premium version is priced at 36 million VND. Special Edition now sells for 38 million VND, which is a 4-5 million VND difference from the proposed price. With Honda Lead, this large-trunk scooter model is also currently 700,000-1,300,000 VND higher.

Notably, the Honda Wave Alpha digital, which has a fairly stable selling price, is also having a bubbled price. A survey at dealers shows that the price of a Wave Alpha is at 20 million VND, a difference of 2 million compared to the proposed price of 18 million VND.

In an effort to explain the heightened costs, sales staffs of dealers all share the same reason that the Covid-19 situation still affects many industries, including the supply of raw materials, components, and spare parts. Therefore, suppliers of components and spare parts have increased the prices of their products, causing the price of input materials to manufacture and assemble motorcycles to rise as well.
