Hyundai Exter will likely be assembled domestically, making it easy to have a reasonable price to compete with Kia Sonet and Toyota Raize.

The dealer informed that Hyundai Exter is expected to be launched in October, with a selling price of about 500 million VND. Some sales consultants have begun to offer customers deposits, with some confirming that the car will be assembled domestically to enjoy a 50% reduction in registration fees from the State’s “domestic car” support policy.

This information has not been confirmed by TC Motor. Experts say that Vietnamese customers’ tastes are increasingly leaning towards high-clearance car models, especially low-priced popular models. Therefore, Hyundai Exter is open for sale in Vietnam, especially when the segment does not have much competition.

It is unclear how many versions Hyundai Exter will have in Vietnam. Compared to competitors in the same A-SUV segment such as Kia Sonet and Toyota Raize, Exter has a more compact size with length, width and height of 3,815mm, 1,710mm and 1,631mm respectively.

The cabin of the Hyundai Exter has a design quite similar to the Grand i10 2023 model currently on sale in India. The 3-spoke round steering wheel, the rear dashboard has a 4.2-inch LCD screen, an 8-inch central entertainment screen, and integrated Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connection.

Referencing the international market, the car has a number of amenities such as push-button start, wireless phone charging, automatic air conditioning, and sunroof. However, on the most high-end version, Exter is only equipped with mechanically adjustable felt seats, easily creating a negative point when opened for sale in Vietnam.

Regarding performance, the sales consultant said that the Hyundai Exter for the Vietnamese market will use a 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated, 1.2L gasoline engine. Combined with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission, this machine produces a maximum capacity of 83 horsepower and maximum torque of 114Nm.

The car’s safety equipment is at a basic level with ABS anti-lock brakes, EBD electronic brake force distribution, hill start assist, 3-point seat belts, rear parking sensors and 6 airbags. . Meanwhile, Toyota Raize has two highlights: blind spot warning and cross-traffic warning when reversing.

In addition to Kia Sonet and Toyota Raize, Hyundai Exter will also face VinFast VF 5 Plus when it officially goes on sale. The electric SUV model from the Vietnamese brand has a suggested retail price of 458 million VND (without battery) and 538 million VND (with battery).

Kia Sonet is currently the leading product in the A-size urban SUV segment in Vietnam. In August, this model sold 1,065 cars while Toyota Raize only achieved 258 sales, with VinFast VF 5 Plus’s sales not being announced.

Toyota Raize is being distributed with 1 variant, priced at 552 million VND. Kia Sonet has a total of 3 versions with a suggested retail price of 519-574 million VND.
