The Honda Civic Type R is the focus of the Honda booth at VMS 2022. During the event, the Japanese brand’s high-performance car is also genuinely sold.

The 6th generation of Honda Civic Type R since its first launch in 1997 uses the chassis of the 11th Civic. However, the upgrade formula of this version has not changed compared to the preceding generation. (2017).

With the Honda Civic Type R 2023, the turbocharged 2.0L engine is retained along with 6-speed manual transmission, but both have been upgraded to bring better parameters for the hot hatch. Using an improved turbocharged K20C1 I-4 engine, its engine has a capacity of 315 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, and maximum torque of 420 Nm at 2,600 – 4,000 rpm, making this the most powerful mass-produced line of the Japanese brand. As for the 6-speed manual transmission, this equipment is upgraded in combination with the Rev match system.

High-strength materials are used in the new generation Civic Type R chassis to reduce the risk of collisions, while vehicle weight is reduced thanks to the use of lightweight materials in position of bonnet and rear trunk. Combined with the car’s aerodynamic design (lower, wider, better downforce), these upgrades contribute to the vehicle’s stability when traveling at high speeds.

In terms of design, the Honda Civic Type R 2023 is still as strong and muscular as before, but now looks older, simpler but more luxurious. The wheel arch is now more harmonious with the whole. The honeycomb mesh on the preceding bumper is no longer available; the spoiler has been upgraded thanks to racing tech.

In addition, the larger heat sink and larger fan also help this engine block to operate longer and more durable than before. The six-speed manual transmission also reduces latency and provides a better connection between user action and system response.

In terms of dimensions, the body of the Honda Civic Type R 2023 is 2cm longer, 1.2cm lower, and 1.5cm wider.

Inside the cabin of Civic Type R 2023, Honda uses red tones on the sports seats, floor mats, dashboard/door panels, gear knob, and Type R badge on the dashboard. The driver’s seat is placed lower but has better visibility thanks to slim side columns, a low bonnet, and swapped side mirrors.

The dashboard on the hot hatch is designed to be as neat and easy to read as possible for the driver, so that they can get the necessary information at a glance while driving at high speed.

In the center screen, there is a separate Honda LogR data storage that records operating parameters in real time for users to improve their driving ability. This screen also supports Apple CarPlay / Android Auto for entertainment, and navigation like the regular Civic.

The sixth generation Honda Civic Type R is equipped with the Honda SENSING Advanced Safe Driving Assist Technology System. In addition, there is also safety features such as AHA, BA, hill-start assist (HSA), cross-traffic alert (CTA), and 8 airbags.

The sixth generation Honda Civic Type R is imported CBU from Japan with 5 color options: White (Championship White), Red (Rallye Red), Blue (Racing Blue Pearl), Gray (Sonic Gray Pearl), Black (Crystal Black Pearl). The model will be officially distributed in Vietnam in limited quantities.

Customers can pre-order from today, but the retail price will only be announced at the end of 2022 with the delivery schedule starting in the third quarter of next year.
